Suicide Attack In Swat 5 Killed
PAKISTAN, MINGORA: At least five security personnel were killed and four others including a civilian injured in a suicide car attack at a checkpoint in Swat valley here Saturday, reports ARY NEWS.
According to preliminary reports, a suicide car bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a security checkpoint in Waliabad area, killing five security personnel on spot. Among one civilian four others were also injured in the attack and were immediately rushed to local hospital.
Heavy contingents of army and other paramilitary forces reached the scene soon after the incident and have started a massive search operation in the area. Chaharbagh Road has been blocked for all kind of traffic following the attack, the channel adds.
It was the first suicide attack in one-time tourist heaven turn violence-torn valley after it was declared clear from the militants later last month following months-long clearance operation marked with bloodshed and biggest internal exodus in country’s history.
Only Solution For Electricity Is Rental Power Plant: PM
PAKISTAN, SHEIKHUPURA: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani inaugurated a 250-Megawatt power plant at Sheikhupura road here Saturday, ARY NEWS reports.
Speaking to the newsmen after the inauguration, the premier said rental power houses were the only solution to get rid of the electricity crisis in a short period of time.
“The government is monitoring the demand and supply of power and 5000 megawatt electricity will be generated within three to five years,” Gilani told the reporters.
The Atlas power house is capable to generate 250 Megawatt electricity.
Shumaila’s Interim Bail Confirmed By Court
PAKISTAN, LAHORE: A local court on Saturday confirmed the interim bail of former PML-N MPA Shumaila Rana, in a credit card theft case.
The counsels for the respondent, Investigation Officer Ghalib Market Police Station and Shumaila Rana appeared before the court.
Police told the court that the investigation into the matter was conducted while the complainant party didnot participate in the investigation.
The complainant Muqeetul Islam also submitted to the police that they had no intention to further proceed the case, the investigation officer added.
The counsel for the respondent requested the court to grant confirm bail to his client as no allegation was proved against her.
The court, after hearing the arguments by the police and the respondent, granted confirm bail to the former MPA.
Ghalib Market Police had registered a case against former MPA in a credit card theft case which was used for shopping illegally.
Shumaila Rana told the press that she was innocent and the allegations against her will be proved baseless.
Firing In Quetta 4 Killed
PAKISTAN, QUETTA: A man opened fire on a family in Tareen Road area, killing its four members on the spot and injuring one on Saturday.
Saeed Muhammad allegedly opened fire after exchange of harsh words with the family. The victims were identified as Hashim, Anwar, Haji Muhammad and Haji Noor Hashim. The injured was identified as Aminullah.
The assailant Saeed managed to flee after the incident.
The injured was rushed to the Civil Hospital while bodies of the deceased were handed over to heirs after autopsy.
Quetta police have registered a case and started further investigation.
Talking to reporters, SHO Gwalmandi Athar Hussain termed old enmity as the reason behind the incident. He said both the victims and assailant belong to Khilji tribe.
