ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti says that his government doesn’t have any objection to the GST Reforms Bill 2010.
Speaking at Pakistan Development Forum in Islamabad today, he hoped that the issue of GST Reforms Bill would be resolved by sitting together with the centre.
About timing of North Waziristan offensive, he said that international community should leave it to Pakistan.
“Pakistan Army is fully capable of dealing with the challenge of militancy,” he added.
Speaking on this occasion, Balochistan’s Chief Minister Aslam Raisani said consultation is still under way on the issue of GST Reforms Bill and that no decision has been taken yet.
To a question, Raisani said that law and order situation in Balochistan is better than other provinces.

TTP releases video footage of Dr Ajmal Khan
Outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan released a video footage of Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University Dr Ajmal Khan in which the latter appealed the government to negotiate his release with the terrorists, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
The footage showed two armed veiled men standing behind Dr Ajmal who pleaded that he could not stay with the Taliban for long for he is a heart patient.
He further said that he was abducted while going to his office on Sept 7 for being a relative of ANP leader Asfand Yar Wali and a government officer.
He appealed to Asfand Yar Wali, Chief Minister Haider Khan Hoti and Governor Awais Ahmed Ghani to secure his freedom.
PM for more focus on development projects
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Friday stressed the need for more focus on development projects so as to address the problems of the common man.
He was talking to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti who called on him at the PM Secretariat and apprised him of the overall situation of the province.
The prime minister said since passage of the 18th Amendment and NFC Accord, provincial economic resources have increased. He said it has also enhanced responsibility on the provinces to ensure good governance and development of backward areas.
The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for his keenness in the uplift of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Fazl urges rulers, judiciary to shun personal grudge
TAKHT BAI: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Fazl group, said Wednesday that judiciary and rulers should set aside their personal grudge and think about the country.
Interacting with media persons here, Rehman said that Waziristan offensive was launched without the consent of Parliament.
He warned that situation in the region would further deteriorate if the United States and unholy powers were not immediately put a leash on.
The JUI-F chief urged the need to show unity to deal with the future threats.
Rehman said his party would form its government in center as well as in provinces after the next election.
Water crosses 364 ft mark in Attabad Lake
HUNZA: The path leading to Attabad Lake from various areas of Hunza has been blocked as water level of the Lake rises over 364 feet.
Meanwhile, Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Nadim Ahmed has said that no one can predict the exact scenario of water outflow from the lake.
The inflow of water into the lake has exceeded 2500 cusecs per day while the outflow has reached 200 cusecs.
It was announced that the boat service would be replaced with helicopter service in view of the imminent breach of the lake. But the plan could not be implemented due to the heavy rains that continued throughout the last night.
Gilgit-Pindi road suffers blockage at 8 different points while Gilgit-Skardu road also remains blocked at different spots.
In the present circumstances, it is feared that the emergency services may be affected while the sufferings of the people taking refuge in the relief camps have already increased.
Earlier, Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Nadim Ahmed took a tour of Attabad Lake and then headed to Hunza where he interacted with media persons.
He said the Karakorum Highway will suffer additional damage due to the lake but no one can say anything about the extent of the same.
On the other hand, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Prime Minister’s special representative for Attabad disaster, said in a press conference held in Hunza today that there is no possibility of breach of the protective bund.
Meanwhile, villagers of a village in Hunza staged a protest over not receiving relief goods from the government in view of the lingering fear of flooding. They said the Ganash village will be the first to take the hit in case of breach of the lake but the government has not taken any safety measures for the village.
However, a representative of the local government was of the view that according to the survey no house in the area under question falls in the red zone.
Death toll in target killing rises to 9
KARACHI: The number of deaths in different acts of target killing in Karachi has climbed to nine, Geo reported Wednesday.
While several people have sustained injuries.
Markets and shops were closed early in the city at the back of target killing reports.
According to police, armed men barged into a shop and opened firing, killing one person and injuring three others. They were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital.
A severely bruised and bullet-riddled body of an identified man was found dumped near Katti Pahari area in North Nazimabad area.
In another incident, unknown gunmen shot and killed one person near Qaba Morr in Orangi Town. While two persons sustained injuries.
One person was killed in Landhi Town.
In different acts of violence, four persons were gunned down in Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Johar and Sir Syed Town.
Shah calls meeting of Sindh coalition partners
KARACHI: A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) today met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to convey its concerns about the incidents of target killings in Karachi.
According to sources, Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan was also present in the meeting.
The MQM team comprised of Wasim Aftab, Hamad Siddiqi, Nishat Zia and Mazahar Imam.
The participants of the committee agreed to call a meeting of Sindh coalition partners to discuss the situation so that law and situation could be maintained in the city.
James Jones calls on Army chief
RAWALPINDI: A US delegation led by General James Logan Jones (Retired), National Security Advisor, United States, called on Chief of the Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, at General Headquarters today.
The visiting dignitaries remained with the Chief of Army Staff for some time and discussed the matters of mutual interest.
Rulers’ apathy frustrating Hazarewals: Zaman

PM meets Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet members
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said the federal government would extend complete support to the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa government in its efforts to strengthen the security measures and accelerate the process of development of the province.
He was talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti and his cabinet ministers here at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday. The Prime Minister said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA have made great sacrifices for peace and faced the challenge of militancy and extremism in a brave manner.
The Federal Government and the people of country would always stand by them to supplement their efforts, he added.
The Prime Minister agreed to personally disburse the first tranche of compensation money among the affected population of Malakand and Swat whose houses have been destroyed by the militants.
He also assured the delegation of timely release of the funds for the projects already announced for various areas of the province.
Earlier, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thanked the Prime Minister for the recent release of funds for various schemes as well as for the IDPs.
The delegation drew the attention of the Prime Minister towards the establishment of universities, medical colleges, cadet colleges, uplift canals, small dams, and NHA projects requiring appropriate funding in the forthcoming budget.
