Pak receives US letter for Faisal probe: Malik
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said he received a letter from the US requesting formally for the investigations regarding Faisal Shehzad detained in the US over New York Times Square incident, Geo News reported Saturday.
Also, the orders have been issued for registering the case and the investigations under Anti-Terror Act, he observed.
Talking to media at Benazir Bhutto Airport, he said the allegations leveled on Faisal Shehzad included his South Waziristan Agency visit and meeting Hakeemullah Mehsud and Qari Hussain.
The US allegations against Shehzad will be properly probed and orders in this connection have been issued.
The federal minister said Pakistani investigation agencies will look into the case.
Responding a query, he told that investigations into the Faisal case will be transparent and general public would be kept abreast of any development in this regard.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan News: Finally, Taliban have confirmed the death of TTP leader Hakeemullah Mehsud today.
According to sources, Hakeemullah succumbed to his injuries near Multan. The late TTP supremo was being taken to Karachi from South Waziristan for treatment, when near Multan his condition got worsened and he died. Hakeemullah was injured in a drone attack on Shaktoi, North Waziristan on January 14. Around 10 other people were killed in the above said attack. Initially, Taliban spokesman Azam Tariq denied the killing of his leader, terming it government’s propaganda; and added that Hakeemullah was alive and well. However, many sources confirmed that Hakeemullah received severe injuries behind his ear in the drone strafe.
Referring to Hakeemullah’s death, ANP Spokesman Zahid Khan,That the TTP leader has died long ago. He urged the Taliban to lay down arms and stop targeting the innocent people, and initiate talks with the government.

Noor Jamal Becomes New Hakeemullah Mehsud
NEW YORK: Maulvi Noor Jamal, a native of the Orakzai tribal region has assumed responsibilities as acting leader of the Pakistani Taliban after death of Taliban leader Hakeemullah Mehsud.
The local residents have claimed that Noor Jamal acting as Taliban chief, the paper reported.
Noor Jamal rose to power as leader of the Taliban in the Kurram tribal area. He was given the additional responsibilities for the adjoining area of Orakzai when the military began an offensive against the Taliban stronghold of South Waziristan in October.
Noor Jamal had been close to Mehsud, one factor that might be in his favor if he does seek to replace him.
Noor Jamal, according to different accounts, is in his late 30s and was a teacher and prayer leader at a local religious school before he was made the leader of the Taliban in Kurram by Mehsud

Rehman Malik Warns Hakeemullah of Dire Consequences
Islamabad, Pakistan News: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned Hakeemullah Mehsud and Waliur Rehman of dire consequences, adding that the militants are taking refuge in other areas for they have left FATA in wake of the military offensive.
, Rehman called upon the militants to lay down arms and surrender terming it a high time for them to do so. Terming the terrorists as enemies of Islam, the Interior Minister said that there was no place for such elements in the country. Rehman told the reporters that intelligence agencies have been ordered to keep a vigilant eye on the hospitals. He hailed FC, saying that the operation launched by it has reduced terrorists’ activities in Peshawar.

PESHAWAR,PAKISTAN: Hakeemullah Mehsud has been Saturday declared to be the successor of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud.
Talking to a British news agency by phone, TTP Acting Amir Maulvi Faqir denied the reports of Baitullah’s killing, saying Baitullah Mehsud is alive and wanted to appoint an amir in his lifespan.
The TTP acting Amir said 42-strong council of Taliban appointed Hakeemullah their chief in lieu of Baitullah and Azam Tariq as the new central spokesman of the militant outfit.
He told that TTP Council had a meeting in Orakzai Agency, attended by Taliban and militants from Bandu Basti areas.
Faqir said Haji Muslim Khan was designated as Acting spokesman after the Maulvi Omar was detained; however, as there was no phone in the area, Azam Tariq will function as the new central spokesman of Taliban.

Baitullah Mehsud is Alive, Claims Hakeemullah Mehsud
PESHAWAR: The spokesman of Tahreek-e-Taliban and close relative of Baitullah Mehsud has denied the reports of killing of Baitullah Mehsud and claimed that he is alive.
Talking to an Arabic Television, Hakeemullah said Baitullah is alive and remained leading Tahreek, a videotape will be release soon as a proof of statement.
Hakeemullah said Baitullah gone into hiding as a part of strategy and he is not in contact with anyone after drone attack.
Replying to question about his presence in father-in-law house, Hakeemullah said living in in-laws house is against Peshtoon tradition and Baitullah was not present in his father-in-law house at the time of drone attack. He said meetings of Majlis Shura of Tahreek-e-Taliban are part of routine.
