London: Three more accused in killings of Pakistanis arrested

All three accused are 16 to 22 years old. According to Midlands Police, the efforts are on to identify the accused involved in the incident.

The police sources further said that more arrests were expected within next 24 hours for which CCTV footage were being analysed.

On the other hand, a man accused in this case has been released on bail.

The dead bodies of three Pakistanis who were killed in the riots would be handed over to their families after postmortem. The dead bodies are likely to be buried in Birmingham.

Dead body of Imran Farooq to reach Karachi on Saturday

The dead body of the former convener of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr. Imran Farooq (late) has been handed over to the heirs of the deceased whereas his namaz-e janaza would be offered in London tomorrow whereas his dead body would reach Karachi on Saturday morning and on the same day it would be laid to rest in Yasinabad graveyard in Karachi, Dunya News reported on Monday.
According to sources the dead body of Dr. Imran Farooq has been handed over to the heirs and tomorrow the namaz-e janaza would be offered in London in which MQM Chief Altaf Hussain is also expected to participate. The body of the late leader of MQM would reach Karachi by Saturday and on the same day the body would be laid to rest in Karachi. The security measures would be beefed up on the occasion of funeral and namaz-e janaza in Karachi.

LONDON/KARACHI: Body of slain Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Dr. Imran Farooq, is likely to be brought to Karachi on Saturday.

Sources told that London police have handed over Dr Imran Farooq’s body to his parents.

Dr Imran Farooq would be buried in Yasinabad graveyard. His funerals would be performed in London on Thursday , sources added.

Dr Imran Farooq’s parents reached in London last week.

MQM’s leader was killed on September 16 in London by unidentified men. Trend Pk



Govt approves magistrate system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Federation has approved in principle restoration of magistrate system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under which the system which was functional before August 1 would be restored.
Twelve amendments in Police Order 2002 have been sent to the Federal Government by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for approval. As per new law, district police officer would be responsible to report to district magistrate. Similarly, checking of police stations would be handed over to magistrate. The magistrate system was changed in local body system in 2001 by the then President Pervez Musharraf. The notification would be issued after the approval of the Federal government.

Imran was right hand of Altaf Hussain: Ghauri

Talking to media in Karachi, he said that Altaf Hussain was deeply shocked by Imrans killing. He said that the party was satisfied with the investigations of Scotland Yard and the killer would be brought to justice. He said that dead body of Imran Farooq would be handed over on Friday and he would be laid down in Shuhada Qabrastan Karachi. He said that Imran was right hand of Altaf Hussain.

Altaf questions govt’s conduct in face of floods

LONDON: Quaid Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced carrying out relief efforts for flood affetees on war-footing basis, vowing that MQM will make use of all available resources to serve this noble cause, Geo News reported Saturday.

This Altaf Hussain said during telephonic conversation he held on early Saturday with Federal Interior Minister Abdul Rehman Malik from London.

He said our country is facing havoc and devastation being wreaked by floods and rains in these times therefore government should suspend every unnecessary activity.

Altaf Hussain called upon government that the flood affectees and displaced persons be rescued and provided relief on war-footing basis.

He appealed to people for helping out flood victims through every possible mean.

Expressing profound grief over sad demise of 150 people in plane crash incident, Altaf said government should have transparent investigation conducted into tragedy in the earliest possible ease.

Also Abdul Rehman lauded MQM’s support in providing relief to bereaved families of Margalla Tragedy victims.

Five including ASI dead in Karachi firing incidents

KARACHI: At least five people including an ASI and a woman lost their lives in firing incidents in various areas of the city, Geo News reported Saturday.

According to police sources, two factions came down to armed clash following a casual exchange of hot words in Liyari’s Bihar Colony, killing a man and injuring another. They were immediately transported to Civil Hospital.

According to police sources, some unidentified gunmen opened fire at a motorist, causing him to get injured. The hurt motorist was soon taken to Abbasi Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Khalid, 30.

According to spokesman of Awami National Party (ANP), the deceased Khalid was president of Party’s Balida Town Warden.

According to police sources, some motorist saboteurs opened fire in Mominabad area of Orangi Town, killing police’s ASI Zahoor, 45.

The deceased was at Mominabad Police Station. The police officials held the incident as target killing.

A body of a woman was recovered from Sharifabad. The woman was shot to death.

A man was killed in a firing incident by unidentified men. The deceased was identified as Ejaz, 28.

New monsoon system from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Another weather system is likely to develop witin next 12 to 24 hours, which may affect eastern parts of the country within next two to three days, Geo News reported Met office sources.

According to Met office, the monsoon system has ended now and a new system will develop after an intermission of one or two days.

Director General Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD) Dr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said Friday.

The weather system that was causing a horrid rainfall across the country is expected to subside in the next 12 hours however; the floods caused by already fallen rains are likely to continue.

He said that the devastating rains that caused flood have already had started to weaken by Friday evening, due to which heavy rain is not expected within the next few days.

“However, there are signs of some scattered rains in some parts of the Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, Punjab and Kashmir in the next 12 to 36 hours,” he added.

More 11 dead in Noshehra: people await help in Kohistan

PESHAWAR: Thousands including 200 foreigners stranded in Dabeer Valley of Kohistan, are waiting for government’s succor for third straight day today, Geo News reported Saturday.

Also, 11 people were killed in Noshehra.

Thousands of people were left besieged in Dabeer Valley in Kohistan, after driving rains lashed the mountains, where around 200 foreigners along with their security crew are waiting for help having to stay thirsty and hungry without any food.

It should be mentioned here that no step has been taken up to evacuate thousands trapped in Valley Dabeer, Valley Kandiya and Pattan.

Several areas including Noshehra Kalan, Noshehra Cantt, Pir Sabaq, Pashtoon Gharhi, Amaan Garhi and Pabbi, were adversely impacted by the flash floods.

According to DPO Noshehra Nisar Tanoli, at least six bodies have been discovered from the affected area of Mohib Banda.

Meantime, at least five people were killed when their boat capsized during a rescue operation in Noshehra Kalan.

Several areas of Dera Ismail Khan were inundated, where administration and the Pak Army are in sync for a joint rescue operation.

Five Relief Camps have been set up in affected areas; however, the affectees are still without help thus far.

The relief activities are underway in the flood-hit areas, as the water is receding.

Three unclaimed bodies were found from the floodwater at Manda Head in Mohmand Agency, have been shifted to Civil Hospital Shabqadar.

At least two kids lost their lives drowning in flood tide in Kirk’s area of Takhti Nasarti.
