LAHORE: Security was put on high alert in Islamabad and other cities after suicide bombers struck a Youm-e-Ali procession in Lahore on Wednesday.

Islamabad police chief said security has been beefed up in the federal capital in the wake of Lahore bombings.

Strict security measures have been taken at mosques, imambargahs and other sensitive locations.

Similarly, security was put on high alert in Dera Ismail Khan, where police have started snap checking. SAMAA

Security beefed up in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Security has been put on high alert in Peshawar, besides stepping up checking at every entrance and exist points of the provincial capital on Friday morning, Geo news reported.

Vehicles entering into city are being thoroughly checked-out at various checkposts located at city entrances; meanwhile, additional police contingents are patrolling across city.

More police personnel have been deployed in and around city mosques, sources said.

Friday declared sensitive in Lahore

LAHORE: Lahore Police have declared Friday very sensitive and put the force on high alert today. SSP Operations Lahore, Chaudhry Shafiq ordered snap checking and search operation in the city.

In a letter to IG Punjab Tariq Salim Dogar SSP operations demanded 500 bulletproof jackets and latest weaponry to cope with the situation.

We have declared Friday sensitive because most of the attacks occurred on that day, police official said.

150 fishermen, 35 boats rescued

KARACHI: Maritime Security Agency (MSA) has rescued 150 fishermen and 35 boats trap from amid high tides.

According to spokesman Maritime Security Agency Lieutenant Commander Shakeel Khan, MSA fleet has put on high alert at coastline and MSA boats are carrying out rescue operation for fishermen trapped in high tides. Emergency Response Center have been established at Karachi Harbor, Pasni and Gwadar with help line number 1331 whereas PTCL number is 02199214624.

6 Militants killed in Khyber Agency

LANDI KOTAL, Pakistan News : At least six militants have been killed in Tirrah of Khyber Agency on Friday.
