Memo commission resumes proceeding

ISLAMABAD: The commission tasked with probing the alleged memo scandal has resumed its proceeding in Islamabad High Court today (Friday).
Barristar Zafarullah said “Mansoor Ijaz is a proclaimed offender in two civil suits in the top court of America.”
Mansoor Ijaz will not come to any Pakistan high commission abroad, he asserted. The high commission, he said, is Pakistani space.
In his argument, he said security situation is not too good in the US where the 9/11 happened.
Zafarullah said it would be an insult to the commission if it decides to go abroad to record Mansoor Ijaz’ statement. TrendPK
Madhuri Gupta sent to judicial custody till May 15

NEW DELHI: Madhuri Gupta, allegedly involved in spying for Pakistan at Indian high commission in Islamabad, has been produced early Saturday morning to Tees Hazari court where she has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days till May 15.
The Delhi police failed to get her remand as already got same of eight days, but didn’t take out facts from her. Now, the big challenge for Delhi police is to collect the evidence from the records, mobile phones and computer of Madhuri Gupta.
Madhuri Gupta has been charged for passing document to Pakistani authorities since 2007.
The Court rejected police request of 2-day remand for Madhuri Gupta.
Gupta faces charges of spying for Pakistani Intelligence agencies.
She was arrested in Delhi on April 27, after being summoned from Pakistan on the pretext that she was needed for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meet in Thimphu.
Shoania will leave for Islamabad at 7 pm
KARACHI: Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza will leave Karachi at 7-00 pm for Islamabad from where they will go tomorrow first to Lahore and then Sialkot.
They will host a reception in Sialkot on April 25 and later the valima will be held in Lahore on April 27.
The Indian tennis queen said while talking with media after arriving at the Jinnah International Airport that she has come to Karachi for the first time.
Her mother has also arrived with her and Shoaib.
On this occasion, a large number of people and the airport staff presented flowers and bouquets to the couple.
Sania was looking tired but Shoaib was happily shaking hands with his fans and receiving congratulations from them.
Indian high commission will host a dinner in the honour of Shoaib and Sania in Islamabad today.
Besides, the newly-wed couple’s meeting with the president and the prime minister is also expected in the capital where their activities are being kept secret.
Meanwhile, the government has given Shoaib and Sania the status of official guests in Islamabad and reserved a room for them at a five-star hotel.
Earlier, the booking for a room at another five-star hotel made by Shoaib Malik has been cancelled.
Executive floor booked for Shoania
LAHORE: A five star hotel has reserved room no 850, which is used by heads of states, for the star couple Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza, Geo News reported.
The hotel management also announced not to charge for it, saying it is a gift from the hotel”s owners. While talking to Geo News, hotel Manager Irshad B Anjum said the executive floor, at the eighth floor daily rent of which is Rs 75000, has been reserved for Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza.
He also told Geo News that Valima ceremony would be organized here at Crystal Hall.
Security officials reached late like Indian films: Sania
KARACHI: A big mismanagement was seen on the arrival of Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza here at the Jinnah International Airport on Thursday.
People crowded the international terminal to get a glimpse of their favourite stars but the security officials controlled the situation.
People were standing inside the airport taking banners to welcome the newly-wed couple.
Sania said while talking with airport officials and media that the security officials reached late here also like Indian films.
She said that she is grateful to Pakistani people for giving a warm welcome here.
Shoaib said that they would stay in Pakistan for a week.

UK Halts Indian Student Visa Applications

The UK government has announced suspension in taking visa applications from North Indian students.
The UK officials said as many as 13,000 visa applications have been submitted by north Indian students. The UK high commission in India Richard Steig has said that wrong usage of visa would not be allowed, adding that the ban was temporary. Britain has also suspended receiving of visa applications of Bangladeshi and Nepali students.
