Paris Hilton charged with illegal drug possession

LOS ANGELES: Hotel heiress Paris Hilton was charged with felony cocaine possession but denied the drugs found in the purse she carried were hers, US media reported.
People magazine said Hilton faces up to four years in prison if convicted on the drug charge.
Following the socialite’s weekend arrest with her boyfriend, Las Vegas nightclub executive Cy Waits, police said they found 0.8 grams (.03 ounces) of cocaine, wrappers typically used to roll marijuana cigarettes, asthma medication and 1,300 dollars in cash.
Police pulled over the black SUV Waits was driving on Las Vegas’ renowned Strip after smelling marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Hilton was conditionally released shortly afterwards.

PORT ELIZABETH: Socialite Paris Hilton appeared in a South African court late Friday, according to a reporter in the courtoom, after her reported arrest for smoking marijuana.
She entered the courtroom in Port Elizabeth with a group of friends at 11:50pm (2150 GMT) Friday, and looked relaxed with her hair in two ponytails.
She was then quickly taken to another courtroom for a closed-door hearing.
A court official told media on condition of anonymity that Hilton was appearing before a magistrate with only lawyers and a few police present.
South African media reported that Hilton was arrested for smoking marijuana at the Brazil-Netherlands quarter-final match.

Paris Hilton Gets Diamonds For Christmas, Socialite and heiress Paris Hilton has already opened her and Christmas presents to find that she has been gifted sparkling diamonds by beau Doug Reinhardt, much to her delight.
The 28-year-old star couldn’t wait for the big day and unwrapped her gifts from ‘The Hills’ star on Thursday, which included diamond jewellery among other things, Contactmusic reported.
Hilton took to her Twitter page to express her delight at the gifts she has received. “At home opening Christmas presents from my man. So happy! He really spoiled me this year and gave me so many incredible presents!.
“All the jewellery he bought me from 14 Karats Jewellery Store is so stunning! It’s true diamonds are a girl’s best friend. I am speechless,” she added. After sharing her joy at the presents, Hilton also wished everyone a merry Christmas in the third tweet in the series.
