RAWALPINDI: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Saturday had statements of three more witnesses recorded and later adjourned the hearing till April 2.

Judge of the special court, Raja Akhlaq heard the case of accused Mumtaz Qadri in Adiala Jail.

During the trial, statements of three policemen were recorded.

Umer Farooq, the policeman who served as Duty Head Mohrar in his statement recorded by the court said Mumtaz Qadri was made part of Governor Punjab’s security detail on his (Qadri’s) insistence.

Member National Assembly PML-N Imran Shah has said that Qadir Gilani son of Prime Minister Yousaf raza Gilani was also involved in Hajj corruption scam.

He said that the amount of bribe was paid to Zain Iftikhar Sukhera, who was the close friend of Qadir Gilani. He said that FIA investigation team should conduct a deep inquiry of the scam.

While commenting on the Imran Shahs statement, DG FIA Waseem Ahmad said that Imran Shah has not mentioned Qadir Gilanis name in his statement adding that he has not detail of the statement recorded by Imran Shah.

No CCTV cameras installed: DIG West

KARACHI: DIG West Sultan Khwaja has said that there are no closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the West Zone of Karachi yet.



Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza had claimed to have installed CCTV cameras in different parts of city to ensure foolproof security in sensitive areas and processions during Muharram-ul-Haram. But DIG West has negated his statement, saying that there are no CCTV cameras installed in the area. He further said that the organizers of processions are told to install cameras by themselves. Pak HC critic of ICC over suspension of trio

LONDON: Pakistani High Commissioner in London Wajid Shamsul Hassan has strongly criticized ICC following its ruling of suspension of Pakistani cricket trio: Salman Butt, Mohammed Aamer and Mohammed Asif, alleged cricketer of spot-fixing allegations, Geo News reported Friday.

In his statement, he said ICC Chief Haroon Logart has betrayed Pakistani High Commission (PHC), by telling a lie.

He said: “Logart visited PHC at 5:30pm and stayed there for an hour.” “In the meantime, he hinted at avoiding to unnecessarily pressurize Pakistani players besides assuring not to dismiss or suspend trio from playing International Cricket”, he noted.

Subsequently, he left PHC excusing that he had some personal work to do but he issued orders of suspension of three players after a little while, he maintained.

Six PSO officials suspended over corruption charges

KARACHI: Following disclosure of Rs.100 million embezzlement in Pakistan Standard Oil (PSO), the country’s biggest oil providing company, at least six officials, appointed in Lalpir Depot locality in Punjab, have been dismissed from office, Geo news reported.

Irfan Qureshi, Managing Director PSO, apprised NA’s committee for oil, gas and natural resources of the entire details of the case on Thursday.

In his statement Irfan Qureshi said some of PSO’s employees would make huge sales of PoL products worth of millions of rupees on credit ahead of information of price hike.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed misappropriation worth of 100 million rupees in PSO”, he told committee.

Subsequently responding to the charges from Irfan Qureshi, the committee chairman, Sheikh Waqas Ikram, has constituted an investigative body, directing it to submit report within one week.

1b253bcbcditions Supreme Court Hearing NRO PetitionsISLAMABAD, Pakistan News : The full bench of Supreme Court has resumed hearing petitions against the National Reconciliation Ordinance here on Tuesday.

An Attorney for the federal government – Barrister Kamal Azfar – will clarify his statement in court on Monday, in which he claimed before the bench that the US CIA and General Headquarters pose a threat to the government.

The bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry – directed the federal government to file a written statement on the concern expressed by the lawyer.

According to reports the federal government will file its amended statement in the court today.
