Relatives to get Dr Imrans dead body soon

The dead body of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq would be handed over to the members of his family within next 48 hours and shifted to Pakistan within days for subsequent funeral and burial in his hometown, said MQM Rabta Committee member Saleem Shahzad.
Talking to Dunya News in London, he said that he body which was kept in Londons Finchley mortuary is in custody of Scotland Yard investigators, would be handed over to his family in next 48 hours, and later, it would be shifted to Karachi for burial.
Dr Imran Farooq was reportedly killed by two Asian-looking men outside his home on Green Lane, Edgware, in a knife attack when he was returning from work on September 16.
Muhammad Farooq, Dr. Imran Farooqs father along with his wife, Senior MQM leader and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr Farooq Sattar and member MQM Rabta Committee Raza Haroon left for London on Wednesday to take Dr Imrans body.

PM announces Rs.05m for blind girl

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani announced to donate Rs 0.5 million for a girl from Chiniot who lost her eyesight due to negligence of doctors.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister House, the premier has instructed the administration of Sheikh Zaid Hospital to shift the girl from her hometown and treat on government”s expenses.

Urijah Faber Tweeted an image of his severely swollen left thigh following his loss to reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo at WEC 48 on Saturday night.

Aldo unleashed a thrashing on Faber’s lead leg throughout the scrap – specifically in the opening rounds – battering it to the point that it forced the hometown hero to fight the championship rounds on just one leg.

“I trained a lot of defense [for] those leg kicks, but he was very effective with them,” a disappointed Faber said after the contest. “He really took away my legs, and it was impossible to get something going when he was attacking like that.”

The Brazilian demanded to make his first title defense against the division’s former king in his own backyard, however backed it up by cruising to a lopsided 49-45, 49-45, 50-45 unanimous decision victory in front of the Arco Arena crowd.

With the loss, Faber’s record now drops to 23-4 and he’s lost three of his last five contests. Regardless, “The California Kid” remains the WEC’s most adored athlete – although Aldo’s time has definitely arrived.

Bank Tied to Candidate Is Shuttered
Illinois regulators Friday shuttered a Chicago bank closely tied to the Democratic candidate running for President Barack Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat.

Broadway Bank is owned by the family of Illinois state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, who is locked in a competitive race in this year’s elections. His role at the institution has become a central issue in the race.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. sold the bank’s $1.1 billion in deposits and essentially all of its assets to MB Financial Bank of Chicago. The FDIC estimates the bank’s failure will cost the deposit-insurance fund $394.3 million. MB Financial and the FDIC entered into an agreement in which the agency will share losses on $878.4 million of Broadway Bank’s assets.

Late Friday, Mr. Giannoulias told the Associated Press that the collapse of the bank will inspire him to work harder in his bid to win the Senate race. He said he knows first hand the impact that the economy has had on people and businesses in Illinois.

“There was no bailout for my father’s bank. It is an incredibly sad and heartbreaking day for me and for my family. This bank has helped thousands of people when no one else would give them a chance,” he said. “What has happened tonight is just a sliver of the hardship which has become endemic in our society only strengthens my resolve.”

More than 200 banks have failed since the beginning of 2008, many struck down by bad construction loans and mortgages. Illinois in particular has seen a large number of failures.

Four years ago, Mr. Giannoulias used his position as a top official at the institution as a primary credential in his campaign to become treasurer in 2006. Since the bank has run into problems, his opponent, Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, has used it as a bludgeon against him in their Senate race.

Mr. Kirk overtook Mr. Giannoulias in several recent polls and now enjoys a single-digit lead. He also has the edge in fund-raising.

Mr. Giannoulias has tried to soften the blow by predicting the bank’s demise. He has also repeatedly said that when he left the bank four years ago, it was on solid financial ground

2010 NFL Draft: LeGarrette Blount goes undrafted
A year of turmoil proved too much for former Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount to overcome in the eyes of the NFL.

Blount, projected by some experts as a potential third-round pick before last season began, was not selected during the seven-round, three-day NFL Draft held Thursday through today.

All is not lost, however. Blount likely will sign with a team as an undrafted rookie free agent. But falling out of the draft certainly was not expected by many.

Blount watched the draft from his hometown of Perry, Fl. Capturing his experience were ESPN cameras set up in his parent’s home. Early in the sixth round, ESPN checked in on Blount who was laying on a couch with his eyes closed.

The good news for Blount is that he now can select a team to sign with that will provide him with the best opportunity to succeed in a role as a power back.

The wedding was held at 1 pm at the Taj Krishna, a private function with close family members as invitees.

“Sania wore a red saree that her mother had worn 25 years ago for her own nikaah. Shoaib wore wearing a black sherwani which was made by Shantanu and Nikhil,” said Sania”s spokesperson, Rucha Nayak.

Mirzas”s mehendi is scheduled for Tuesday, followed by a sangeet on Wednesday, a lavish reception will be held on Thursday.

Blast in Dera Bugti, 4 Injured

JAFARABAD, Pakistan News: A blast ripped through a market near Dera Bugti on Sunday, wounding at least 4 people.

Officials said the explosive material went off in a busy market near the Dera Bugti area, injuring at least four people and damaging few nearby shops.

Those injures were rushed to civil hospital Dera Bugti for treatment.

Three to four people were injured in the explosion, said DPO Dera Bughti . However, nature of the blast has not so far been ascertained.

Severe tense prevailed in the area following the incident, prompting people to close down their shops. Police and law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene and cordoned off the blast site.

The town of Dera Bugti serves as headquarters of the district and tehsil of the same name at Balochistan. It was the hometown of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, the veteran politician killed in army operation in Musharaff era.

Gas installations are often being targeted by miscreants here as four natural gas fields are working and the gas is being provided to all parts of Pakistan.

Shania Twain Carries Olympic Torch

TIMMINS, Ontario : Shania Twain carried the Olympic torch the final 400 yards into Hollinger Park, cheered on by thousands of parka-clad fans who turned out in arctic conditions to see the hometown hero in person Friday night.

After making her final turn toward the stage, Twain paused, held the torch aloft in her mittened left hand, and waved to the crowd. The country star then bounded the final few yards onto the stage, where she lit the Olympic cauldron.

“I feel proud, very proud,” Twain said. “It’s a highlight of my life to be able to carry the flame, to light the cauldron.”

At 16 degrees below zero and windy, it was so cold that when a dozen red beach balls were tossed into the crowd, the balls came apart within seconds.

“I know that sounds crazy, but it wouldn’t be Timmins if it wasn’t 40 below with the wind chill factor!” Twain said.
