The West Indies Cricket Board says it has moved the venue of its third Test against Australia from Guyana to Dominica because of interference by Guyana s authorities.

The WICB says in a statement Friday that it moved the Test scheduled April 23-27 because of “the Government of Guyana s push to take over the management and governance of cricket in the country.”

It added that the Guyana Cricket Board “the legitimate cricketing authority” had been “prevented from undertaking the necessary tasks needed to ensure the successful hosting of the match.”

Australia is playing a three-Test series in West Indies, along with one-day and Twenty20 series in March and April.

B.J. Watling reached a maiden test century on Saturday before New Zealand declared its first innings at 495 for seven on the third day of its one-off test against Zimbabwe.

In his seventh test and first as wicketkeeper, Watling became the fifth New Zealand gloveman to post a test century when he took his overnight score from 52 to 102 before the declaration just before drinks in the morning session.

New Zealand resumed at 392-5 after only 15.2 overs were bowled on the rain-affected second day and added 103 runs in 18.2 overs before declaring.

Watling was 94 when he received a message that New Zealand would declare at the end of the current over. He hit a four, then survived a run out to reach his century from 148 balls.

Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Ross Taylor was Saturday ruled out of the remainder of the Zimbabwe series by a calf strain which forced him to retire hurt on 122 in the first innings of the Test.

Taylor was attempting a quick single early Friday as he built on his sixth Test century when he tore his right calf and was forced to hobble from the field.

Following hospital treatment, he said he would be sidelined for three to four weeks.

New Zealand are playing one Test, three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches against Zimbabwe before hosting South Africa from February 19.

“While it is early days, our target is to have Ross available for the one day series against South Africa in late February,” New Zealand physiotherapist Paul Close said.

Meanwhile, a full day s play was expected in Napier Saturday after much of Friday was washed out by rain.

A hope for returning International Cricket in Pakistan

f152c8cb9ricket.jpg A hope for returning International Cricket in Pakistan2011 brings up a hope for returning international cricket in Pakistan. Due to the tries of ICC task force created a hope of returning international cricket on Pakistani grounds according to which a team named World Eleven, consists of star players from all the teams will tour Pakistan and will play matches against the green shirts.

After the World Cup 2011 Pakistani team will be busy again immediately after the Mega event Pakistan have to tour West Indies. After that Pakistan will become a host of Zimbabwean cricket team. Zimbabwe is ready to come in Pakistan and rescheduling of this series is in under process between the two boards. According to the previous schedule this series was going to be held in December of the continue year but due to security reasons and Muharram-ul-Harram this series was delayed and now this series is expected in May of the next year the numbers of the matches between the Asian and African side are also not decided yet.

The main and big challenge for the Pakistan is the hosting of Sri Lanka. But the Sri Lankan cricket Board and their players did not give any clear answer about this tour weather they will come or not. It is to be remembered that Sri Lanka was the last team that toured Pakistan in February/March 2009 and due to attacks on them they cancelled the tour and returned to their home. After that Pakistan became a “no go area” for the international teams and in the result of these attacks the matches of the World Cup which were to be held in Pakistan are transferred to India and the most important country of the South Asia is not hosting any match in the Mega event and other all cricket playing Asian countries Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka are the hosts of the biggest event of cricket.

If the Sri Lanka will agree to tour Pakistan and the entire event will hold peacefully then it will give a way for the international teams to come and play on the Pakistani grounds.  The returning of international cricket on Pakistan will be a major break through between Pakistan and those countries that boycotted Pakistan. But this is totally depends on Pakistani government, officials, and the relevant administration that can they provide the fool proof security to the international teams or not and can they create that environment in which the international players will play without and scariness and tension this will be a big challenge for Pakistan.

India bribed 72 nations to get Delhi CWG: Report

India is alleged to have bribed 72 Commonwealth countries $0.1million each to get the hosting rights for the scandal-hit 19th edition of the Games which will start in Delhi from October 3-14, a media report claimed.
A report in an Australian newspaper claimed that Delhi pipped Hamilton in the bid after offering huge sums of money to the 72 Commonwealth countries during the final presentation in Jamaica. The report also said that Australia received a kickback of USD 125,000 from India.
Delhi sealed the right to host the Games when their delegates emerged at the final presentation in Jamaica and offered all 72 nations one hundred thousand dollars each for athlete training schemes if they were the successful bidders, the newspaper reported. The money, subsequently paid to all nations, was not significant to Australia because it had already decided to vote for India and the payment was not an exceptionally large one.
But for small nations who have minimal interest in the Games, it clinched their vote and India went on to beat Canadian city Hamilton 46-22 in the final poll. Hamilton had offered the nations about USD 70,000 each, it said. The newspaper also claimed that some countries’ which had supported Hamilton’s bid cried foul after India won the bid. Hamilton’s bid organisers, and many of the nations who voted for them, fired off angry protests about India buying votes and the bad blood generated between several feuding nations still exists, it said.
The Commonwealth Games Association has decided to ban 11th-hour inducements as a consequence of the outrage over India’s tactics. Australian Commonwealth Games Association president Sam Coffa also accepted that India offered money to get the Games. We had a situation where Asia has had the Games only once (Malaysia in 1998) and it was worthwhile going again, he said. Even though the Delhi Games organisers are battling against time to prepare the city for the mega-event, Coffa was hopeful about a successful CWG. He, however, came hard on the Commonwealth Games Federation for not taking up the matter, in regard to the city’s preparedness, with the organisers earlier.
I still think they can pull it off. If I have any regrets it is that the Commonwealth Games Federation did not act sooner. They were behind schedule quite a few months ago and it would have helped if they had gone to India to get things moving, Coffa said. Chairman of Hamilton bid Jagoda Pike also pounced on the opportunity and said the scenario would have been different if the Canadian city was awarded the hosting rights. I think you can safely say the kinds of issues they are experiencing wouldn’t have happened if it were here, Pike said.
