Karachi building leans to side after tremor

KARACHI: A four-storey building in Liaquatabad was damaged as a result of massive earthquake which hit Pakistan after midnight towards Wednesday morning.
According to TrendPK correspondent, the four-storey building leant towards its side, sparing its inmates with no other options than leave it.
The people residing in at least 70 houses surrounding the jeopardized building have come out of their houses, bewildered what to do.
However, the City government has been apprised of the situation. The building has been cordoned off keeping in view the imminent collapse of the precarious building. TrendPK
Quake-dreaded people rush out into streets
KARACHI: Various people voiced their feelings related with quake-unleashed panic in different ways after 7.4 magnitude tremor hit Pakistan.
Massive quake rocked the country across its frontiers reaching Indian capital New Delhi on side and Dubai on the other in the wee hours of Wednesday, forcing the people in cities including Karachi, Lahore and Hyderabad to come out of their houses, reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
An awe-stricken man said he was awake at this point at 1.30, when his bed shook and the windows rattled and then he woke my family.
Many residents in the country’s largest city, Karachi, ran out into the streets once the quake started, said the reports.
Drone attacks proving counter-productive: Gilani
trendpk.com: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday assured that a great number of terrorists strongholds have been eliminated.
Talking to media outside Multan Airport, Gilani called upon the people to intimate the police or law enforcement agencies if they suspect any presence of terrorists around their houses or else.
Regarding the drone attacks, the PM maintained that, the drone attacks are proving to be counter-productive and we have asked the US to give us the said technology. The premier said that efforts are on to improve the countrys economy.We will take all the political parties on board before the Council of Economic Coordination meeting, the PM stated. When his attention was drawn towards Shahzain Bugtis arrest and the subsequent situation, Gilani said that he would talk to Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani in this respect. Balochis are patriotic people, we respect them we dont support the imprisonment of any innocent person, the PM said.

News Trends: An earthquake measuring 5.2 has jolted many parts of Punjab and KPK early Friday morning.

The quake struck at 4:17 am (2317 GMT Thursday) with its epicenter 64 kilometres east of Zhob in Baluchistan, at a depth of 19 kilometers, the United States Geological Survey said.
Tremors were felt in Faisalabad, Vehari, Jhang, Dera Ismail Khan as well as tribal areas.
Unsettled by the sudden shocks, people came out of their houses, whereas no reports of any kind of losses have been received.
Dead body found in rubble of CID building

KARACHI: An unidentifiable dead body was found from the rubble of the CID building, which was completely devastated in the truck bomb blast Thursday night.
The powerful blast also damaged several other buildings nearby.
Efforts are underway to find and pull the trapped bodies out of the gutted building.
At least 21 people, including six policemen, were killed and over 100 wounded in the worst terror attack to hit Karachi.
Meanwhile, owners of the other damaged buildings demanded that the government makes early arrangements for reconstructing their houses.

Lahore: Eight suspects arrested during search operation
Lahore police managed to arrest 8 suspects from Lahore after carrying out extensive search operations due to the terror threats.
According to police sources, these suspects were arrested from Shah di Khui area of Muslim Town. During the search operation, all the houses were thoroughly checked in the area of Muslim Town and ID cards of people were also checked. Police then arrested those who did not have any kind of ID document or were not able to identify themselves. On the other side, locals of Muslim town later staged a protest against the search operation.

Judiciary should be strengthened for justice, says Shahbaz
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that judiciary should be strengthened in order to ensure justice for the masses, Dunya News reported on Monday.
Talking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly, the Chief Minister said that it is obligatory for all of us to have reverence for the high court as well as for the Supreme Court. He also said that in order to accomplish the objectives of lawyers movement, everyone should respect and follow the decisions by the judiciary. Shahbaz Sharif was of the view that we should leave everything to the court after expressing all the concerned legal and constitutional points.
Shahbaz Sharif briefed the media that the first phase of Model Villages would complete today with the help of philanthropists. Keys of the houses in the Model Village have been given to the owners. The Chief Minister also told the media that dispensaries and other facilities would be provided in these villages.

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of 5.3 magnitudes has jolted many parts of Pakistan including Islamabad, Peshawar and Muzaffarabad on Monday morning.
According to details, at about 2:45 am local time earthquake took place mostly in those areas which were devastated by a major earthquake on October 8, 2005.
Tremors were felt in the northern and upper regions of the country, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Rawal Kot, Taxila, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar and Hazara Division.
People, harassed by the sudden shocks of earth quake, came out of their houses and started to recite verses of Holy Quran under fear.
After the earthquake, a light rain started to shower in Islamabad which turned local cold weather into further colder. SAMAA
