Maya Moore And UConn 1 From Another Step Title
Maya April Moore born June 11, 1989 is an American basketball forward for the University of Connecticut Huskies, and the winner of the 2006 and 2007 Naismith Prep Player of the Year. She was selected as the John Wooden Award winner in 2009 after leading Connecticut to the undefeated national championship.
She was one of 10 members of the WBCA AllStar Team announced Saturday and was selected for this national honor over teammate Tina Charles. Maya Moore says UConn Huskies wont let up in a close game as they go for next. “I’m so excited. It’s what we work for all season,” Moore said. “I’m almost speechless.”

A win Tuesday night and they’ll be the first women’s team to go undefeated in consecutive seasons. UConn was tested and threatened for one of the rare times during its streak. Ahead 41-38 with 15 minutes left, the Huskies responded. Coach Geno Auriemma actually enjoyed it, in fact. Tuesday’s championship game will be the sixth time that the top two teams in the final Top 25 poll will meet for the title, with the last coming in 2002 when UConn beat Oklahoma in San Antonio.

Latest news about Jasper Howard death, Connecticut cornerback Jasper Howard (left) was killed early Sunday morning in an on-campus stabbing.
According to the Hartford Courant, which first reported the story, Howard was stabbed after a fight broke out shortly after midnight near the campus’ student union center. Howard was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries, Howard who was from Miami, was 20 years old. A second person was also stabbed, but was treated and released.
Howard had 11 tackles in the Huskies’ 38-25 win over Louisville on Saturday afternoon and also forced and recovered a fumble.
Connecticut is scheduled to play on the road at West Virginia on Saturday, before returning home for the first time on Halloween against Rutgers.
