Indian Army Chief General V.K Singh has said that the nuclear assets of Pakistan are secured properly and there are no threats to the nuclear weapons.
After a controversial statement a few days ago, the Indian Army Chief has gone the other way round by declaring the nukes of Pakistan safe and without any threats. He also said that a lot of concerns prevail all around the world regarding their safety and security but the concerns lack substance. General Singh said that Pakistan has made unusual arrangements for the security of these weapons upon global concerns.

China, Pakistan big threats to India’s security: Army Chief
China and Pakistan remain two major threats to India’s national security, Indian Army chief General VK Singh said on Friday.
In a clear indication that India is worried, Gen Singh said although the border with China was stable at present, the armed forces could not take any chances. He said there might be uncertainty about a conventional war with China but skirmishes were certainly possible.
The army chief stressed on the need for substantial conventional war fighting capabilities to defend the country. Interestingly, the army chief’s comments come even as Defence Minister AK Antony is in Vietnam attending the ASEAN defence ministers’ meeting which is also being attended by China.We have a risen China, both economically and militarily. Although we have CBMs on place, although we have a very stable border, yet we have a border dispute, said Gen Singh.All out conventional war may be highly uncertain, nevertheless skirmishes can occur. We should have a great amount of conventional capability to function in a conventional conflagration and yet be prepared to function in a nuclear backdrop, he added.

NEW DELHI: India successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable intermediate range ballistic missile Agni II off the coast of the eastern state of Orissa, media reported Monday.
The indigenous built Agni II intermediate range ballistic missile which has a range of 2,000 kms was testfired from Wheeler”s Island off the Orissa coast under the supervision of senior Indian Army officials and the Defense Research and Development Organization scientists, the sources said.
The Agni-II is a medium range ballistic missile (MRBM) with two solid fuel stages and a Post Boost Vehicle (PBV) integrated into the missile”s Re-entry Vehicle.
The nuclear capable 2,000-km-plus range missile has a length of 21 meters, a diameter of one meter, weighs 17 tons and can carry a payload of around 1,000 kg. It was first tested on April 11, 1999.
The Agni-II is always be in a ready-to-fire mode and can be launched within 15 minutes as compared to almost half a day of preparation for the previous generation Agni-TD.
Suniel Shetty returns to action genre with Hindi remake of Keerthichakra

After having debuted with the hardcore action flick Balwaan, almost two decades ago, Suniel Shetty went on to experiment in various genres right from romance, to comedy to socially relevant films. However, those fans who have been pining to see ‘Anna’ in an action role can finally smile as the actor is all ready to start his next film which is an action film.
The film in question is a remake of the popular Malayalam film Keerthichakra and will be directed by Major Ravi (an ex-Indian Army Major). Major Ravi, who has been associated with directors like Priyadarshan and Rajkumar Santoshi in the past, had directed the original version starring Mohanlal which was a runaway success.
Speaking about the film, Suniel says, “Yes… I am excited about doing an action film after a long while. The original version Keerthichakra was a huge success and I hope that the Hindi remake also does well. I play the role of an officer who leads a team of 10 young commandos. My character is like a mentor and guide to the younger boys. ”
The film is based on the militancy issue in Jammu and Kashmir While Suniel has been finalized for the lead role; the rest of the cast is yet to be finalized.

Indian Army Evacuates Kashmir Hospitals, Schools
SRINAGAR: The Indian army has evacuated all hospitals and schools in Indian-administered Kashmir in a bid to “improve the security situation” there.
“This has been done to reduce the visibility of the army, without in anyway diluting out counter-militant grid,” Defense Minister A. K. Antony said on Wednesday in a visit to the region.
The paramilitary police will take more responsibility in securing the state, most notably the key Jammu-Srinagar highway, he noted.
The Indian minister said “the process of winning hearts and minds of people is never an easy one,” recalling the unpopular presence of the Indian army in the state.
The military has recently pulled some 30,000 troops out of Kashmir.
However, the Indian official warned that militant attempts to infiltrate into the region from Pakistan had increased.
