people get ready

Crystal Bowersox turned in another powerhouse performance on “American Idol” Inspirational Songs week for “Idol Gives Back.”
She chose “People Get Ready” by The Impressions and her emotional singing left nary a dry eye in our section at the taping.. Crystal said onstage that she became choked up because it was the first time her dad had been to see her perform on “Idol.” He looked cool as a cucumber in his shades, but we bet he was pretty touched behind the glasses.
Crystal has been the frontrunner for weeks now but it was nice to see her open up a bit. Her personality perhaps doesn’t come through as best it could — perhaps because she seems flawless. She rarely has an off night and even those have only tiny mistakes.
We also loved seeing her completely instrument free and dressed to the nines. She looked gorgeous and she tells Zap2it, “Just because I have dreadlocks doesn’t mean I can’t be elegant. I don’t have to wear jeans … I’m a woman.”
Tom Watson Stealing Tiger Woods Return Show Humility
Thomas Sturges “Tom” Watson born September 4, 1949 is an American professional golfer, who has played on the PGA Tour and now mostly Champions Tour. In the 1970s and 1980s, Watson was one of the leading players in the world, winning eight major championships and heading the PGA Tour money list five times. He was the number one player in the world according to McCormack’s World Golf Rankings from 1978 .
Tom Watson says Tiger Woods needs to “show some humility to the public” when he returns to golf after sorting out his personal life. Watson also said Wednesday that Woods should clean up his on-course behavior in order to be considered among the true greats of the game. Woods is on an indefinite break since his car crash Nov. 27 that fueled sordid tales of extramarital affairs.
But the truth is that Watson, as Andy North noted on air earlier, believes he can win a major tournament this late in his career. And why shouldn’t he despite everything that’s gone on in “golf” the past few months, we’re still less than a year removed from the 2009 British Open, where Watson lost in a four-hole playoff to Stewart Cink.
And winning the Masters isn’t some sort of new notion either Watson’s got a pair of wins at Augusta, even if they were both 28-plus years ago. Is Watson a likely winner? No. But it could happen. Is his major success a great story that continues despite a LOT of negative attention to give several generations of golfers a chance to really see one of the greats in action? Most definitely.
As you may remember, Watson was part of a great story when he came within literally eight feet of being the 2009 British Open champion. On the 18th hole of the final day, Watson missed a putt from eight feet away that would’ve locked up the tournament for him. The miss meant he and Stewart Cink went to a four-hole playoff, one that Cink dominated, winning by six shots. Even so, Watson was the inspirational story of that tournament.
Biggest Loser Winner
Biggest Loser Winner, Danny Cahill: The Biggest Loser Winner is Danny Cahill, who lost 239 pounds and is taking home $250,000 in prize money, more than $1,000 per pound lost. Danny Cahill beat runner-up Rudy Pauls, who also put up an inspiring weight loss effort throughout Season 8 ofthe Biggest Loser.
Thirty-nine-year-old Danny Cahill entered NBC’s Biggest Loser weighing in at 430 pounds and shed 239, leaving the married land surveyor at 191 pounds. Cahill was not the largest contestant on this season’s show, with one individual weighting in at 476 pounds at the season’s first show.
In week 12, Danny Cahill was one of only four people to lose more than 200 pounds on the Biggest Loser ranch in Utah. He also completed the week 12 marathon in 6:55:22, tying with teammate Liz.
In recognition of the inspirational weight loss Cahill has achieved, BUNN, a maker of beverage equipment, has announced that it will donate a home coffee brewer for every pound he lost to a nonprofit hunger relief organization. During episode 8:12, Lisa McCloud, director of marketing at BUNN, noticed that Danny Cahill has a BUNN coffee brewer in his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. McCloud noted in a company news release prior to the season finale that “We want to do something to support Danny in his final push to the finale and are guessing that he will lose between 225-250 pounds. That equates to up to $25,000 worth of coffee brewers that could be donated.”
The Biggest Loser has been an inspiration for many overweight and obese individuals, and now it appears that Danny Cahill’s weight loss efforts have inspired an unexpected audience. Cahill’s weight loss is clearly a win-win-win situation: his reaching a healthful weight, his inspiration for others, and the many nonprofit hunger relief organizations that will receive a coffee brewer. The season finale of Biggest Loser has turned out to be a big winner all the way around.
