BCCI must permit Pakistanis to play IPL: Shahid Afridi

Captain of Pakistan team, Shahid Afridi talking to an India News Agency, has appealed the Indian Cricket Board to give permission to Pakistani players of playing Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that as now the relations between two countries are improving so players of Pakistan must be given a chance to play IPL.

The proof of improving bilateral relations is the semi-final match of World cup 2011, between India and Pakistan, seen by Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and his Indian counter part Manmohan Singh together. Manmohan Singh invited Pakistani P.M to see the Indo-Pak semi-final of in Mohali last month.

“It is high time the Pakistani cricketers also get a place in the IPL. For three seasons, including the current one, we haven’t been a part of the IPL. We have no problems playing in India as we have just played a World Cup semi-final there,” Afridi said.

It is to be rememberd that this is the successive third year, since green shirts are not permitted to participate in the biggest T20 tournament.

Shahid Afridi said hoped that IPL can be great platform for the youngsters to show their abilities.
“I am not saying I want to play the IPL but it could be a great platform for youngsters. They could make a mark for themselves,” he said.

Shahid Afridi declared the inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL as the measure for reducing the tensions between two countries:
“Our PM responded positively to that invitation. Now IPL can be a platform to further ease the tension,” he added, “We should play more against each other. This will not only ease the pressure but will also reduce the unwanted media hype surrounded with Indo-Pak matches,” Shahid Afridi said.

IPL T20 is one of the biggest event tournaments of the sports world. It is played every year in the summer season of Indian Subcontinent. The first match of the tournament will be played between the teams of Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday 8 April.

29 cricketers Suspected in IPL season 2 Spot Fixing

Spot fixing circle is not expanding after 3 Pakistani cricketers were alleged for spot fixing. A leading news paper of London claimed that there were 29 players involved in spot fixing during IPL season 2. The report also stated that there are many well known players involve in spot fixing. In the list of 29 players there are no British and Pakistani player involve as they didn’t participated in that.

It is also said in report that batting patterns of some players are very suspicious in IPL-2 as one high profile batsman came to bat early in the inning but didn’t score freely and lead his team to difficulties in the end. The name of that player was not opened in the report.

Commissioner of IPL, Lalit Modi was also suspended right after the IPL 2. He was alleged for having corruption. He was facing allegations during the 2nd season of IPL but he was suspended after the season ended. It is expected that for IPL season 3 players from England team will be available. They will first time participate in that. ICC anti corruption unit is planning to start investigation of spot fixing during the mega events. ICC aims that game should play with true spirit and should be neat and clean.
