Hike in power tariff: SC seeks explanation from NEPRA
Hearing a suo moto notice of corruption charges in Rental Power Plants (RPPs), the Supreme Court sought explanation from NEPRA about the rise in power tariff, Dunya News reported on Friday.
The Supreme Court Friday issued notices to Chairman (NEPRA) and former and existing officials of Wapda during suo moto hearing of corruption charges in Rental Power Projects (RPPs).
Parliamentary leader of the PML-Q in National Assembly Faisal Saleh Hayat confessed that the RPPs that were installed during his period were misappropriated and thus action should be taken in this respect. He told the three-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry, that the NEPRA has permitted installation of those power plants, which had passed their operation life.
The Chief Justice remarked that the court will only hear the legal points and asked Hayat to present evidences to back his claims. The court later put off hearing of the case till October 26.
LHC issues Chairman PCB notice on match-fixing case
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to Sports Minister Ijaz Jakhrani and Chairman PCB Ijaz Butt, summoning duo on September 7 in response to petition in connection with match fixing allegation on Pakistani players in Lord’s Test, Geo News reported.
The petitioner Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry pleaded before court that players, involved in match fixing allegations, have maligned name of Pakistan worldwide, seeking stern punishment for them.
The petitioner also recommended honorable court for banning involved players from all forms of cricket for lifetime.
Consequently, LHC issued notices to PCB Chairman and Sports Minister to appear before court on September 7.

PHC issues notices to ministries for missing persons
PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) issued notices to the Interior Ministry and Defence Ministry in connection with the missing persons case, Geo News reported Tuesday.
The PHC bench consisting of Chief Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan and Justice Sardar Shaukat Hayat heard various petitions regarding the missing persons.
The court gave more time to the government to recover five missing persons including Qari Manzoor, Ishaq and Rehmatullah and issued notices to the Interior Ministry and Defence Ministry to retrieve Izzat Khan of Badhbeer and Noshehra’s Haji Qamar.
The court also directed the government to expedite efforts for the recovery of Abdullah who went missing from Kohat
Also, the notices were issued to the Interior Ministry and Defence Ministry for the early recovery of Hangu’s Noraseed who went missing from General Bus stand.

SC Completes Hearing Of Plea Challenging Grade-22 Promotions
The Supreme Court has completed the hearing of the case challenging the Grade-22 promotions disregarding the seniority by the PM today.
Earlier, the 3-member bench, headed by Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, reserved its ruling, but later issued notices to the 54 bureaucrats, who got promoted, for their stance on the issue. Attorney General Anwar Mansoor told the court that the promotions were made under the law.
During the hearing, Chief Executive of PIDC Gul Muhammad told the court that he would quit if the SC revoked his promotion. The apex court said that it would release the verdict after a perusal of written statements of all the officials concerned.

Peshawar High Court issues notices on arrest of Sufi Mohammed sons
PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Peshawar High Court today issue notices for provincial home department and DCO Swat forarrest of three sons of Sufi Mohammed.
The court has issued notices to the concerned officials for clarification.
Atlas Khan Advocate informed the PHC division bench comprised of Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Pir Liaquat that three sons of Sufi Mohammed were arrested from illegally arrested from Peshawar without any charges against them.

Peshawar High Court Takes Notice For Price Hike
PESHAWAR: Following the decision of Lahore High Court, Peshawar High Court on Thursday also took a suo moto notice of day-by-day increasing trend of price hike in the province, reports ARY NEWS.
The PHC issued notices to Advocate General and other concerned provincial officials in this regard, adds the channel.
