"Joker will be India’s first Bollywood film in full 3D" – Shirish Kunder

Joker has been Shirish Kunder’s dream project and he makes no qualms in stating that. Not just that, the director is now working on making his project larger than life? A lot has been said and talked about in the media with rumours rife with talks about how Shirish has kept postponing the film for the right time. Bollywood Hungama caught up with the man who is by all means excited with his upcoming release Tees Maar Khan and his big dream project – Joker.
Talking about the film, Shirish says, “By now I guess its common knowledge that Joker has been my dream project, but the media and people keep saying that it’s a superhero film, however its not. In fact though it was earlier designed and scripted to be a superhero film I have changed it and reworked the entire story of the film. The new Joker, since I had the rights to the name, will be like any other commercial Bollywood pot boiler, but one thing for sure is that Joker will differ in terms of its innovation, unlike anything what we have seen till date.”
The biggest news of the hour is that Kunder plans to make Joker as a 3D film. Shirish reaons, “Coming to the whole 3D aspect of the film, if we look back it was always there, but seldom used for the sole reason that we didn’t have the right technology to screen and view the film. Simply put with the advancements today with LED 3D television, it becomes more effective and sensible to make a film in 3D.”
So does Shirish plan to go the James Cameron way for Joker? Shirish replies, “See Avatar was made on a whole new generation of camera techniques that captured live animation; however there was a major part of the film that was computer generated. Joker, on the other hand, will have hardly any computer generated graphics, so using the camera James Cameron developed will not be a suitable option. For my film, we will use the available stereoscopic camera since with that we can shoot the entire project in 3D, like shooting a normal film.”
Joker will be the first ever Indian 3D film that will feature a Bollywood superstar. So how did Shirish manage to get Akshay on board? “Initially, when I approached Akshay about the film and told him that I was planning it in 3D, he was a bit sceptical about it, but later that changed. The reason behind this change of mind was when I showed him a poster I had developed at home of Joker which was in full 3D. Akshay saw the poster with the 3D glasses and that was the turning point, he became a believer that we could actually pull off the entire film in 3D.”
Shirish jokes that he asked Farah to keep her hands off Joker. “For Tees Maar Khan, I showed Farah the script to read but she liked it so much that she hijacked the entire project. However, for Joker she knows how eagerly I have been wanting to make it so when I showed her the new script, she only got to read it and gave me some feedback.”

Coming to the music of the film Shirish says, “It will be a mix of various music directors, and yes since I have also started composing I will also pitch in with a few tracks.”
Talking about the technical side of things, Shirish states that he will be opting for Indian talent rather than getting western technicians for Joker. “We will be using most of our Indian technicians for the job. Now you may ask why, well it’s simply because we have a lot of talent here. With Joker, we will be pushing the limits in terms of talent. So, we are hoping to quite literally make a never seen before Bollywood film with Joker, making it Indian’s first Bollywood film in full 3D.”
Now comes the big question that has been doing rounds of the media for months now. Which actress will star opposite Akshay in Joker? Shirish reveals that he has locked on the actress but refuses to reveal the names at this stage. “Yes, we have already finalized the leading actress in the film; apart from that we also have an ensemble cast that will be announced. However, I would prefer not to talk about it as I don’t feel that I could announce it alone. Akshay and I will be making a formal announcement of the same in a few days.”
Joker goes on floors in January 2011 and will be shot mainly in India.

Titanic Survivors Still Alive
PIGEON FORGE, TENN. – As I enter the newly opened Titanic museum, I’m handed a boarding pass. The good news is I’ve been assigned the identity of Isidor Straus, the wealthy founder of Macy’s department store. He and his wife, Ida, stayed in one of the best first-class suites on the ship.
It’s the room where Jack draws a nude portrait of Rose in James Cameron’s movie. And it’s faithfully reproduced on the second floor of the museum.
The bad news is I’m one of the 1,517 people who perished when the ship hit an iceberg and sank at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912.

The outside of “Titanic: The World’s Largest Museum Attraction,” as it’s called, is a huge, half-scale reproduction of the front half of the ship, apparently about to sail across Parkway, Pigeon Forge’s main drag.
But beyond the goofball exterior is a remarkably informative, entertaining and, yes, respectful museum. In addition to its treasure trove of authentic artifacts — a deck chair, Mrs. Astor’s actual life jacket, a crew member’s penknife — it recounts in detail the lives of dozens of the ship’s passengers who might otherwise have been forgotten

American Idol Top 24, Michael “Big Mike” Lynch: Big Mike’s dad
allegedly revealed his son’s Top 24 status weeks ago, thus breaking “Idol’s” rules of confidentiality, but the Florida native and personal trainer has a smooth voice and sweet disposition that’s simply undeniable. He is shown last week was shown listening in by cell phone as his wife gave birth to their daughter
Didi Benami: If she could keep the tears in check for more than five seconds, we might dig Didi the person as much as we like Didi the voice.
Katelyn Epperly: We didn’t get to see or hear too much of Katelyn, who auditioned in Chicago, but she proved her vocal prowes singing Colbie Callait’s “Bubbly.”
Casey James: Denver’s hottest auditioner is a no-brainer; the show’s been teasing viewers with his sexiness for weeks. And we know Kara’s a fan. His popularity was not affected by the fact that he spent some time behind bars.
Aaron Kelly: This 16-year-old countrified contender sang Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” during auditions. Prior to that, he won Disney World’s American Idol Experience.
Lee Dewyze: The season’s resident rocker may be this little-known Chicago auditioner, who showed Chris Daughtry-like promise with his version of the Fray’s “You Found Me.”
Todrick Hall: He showed exceptional freestyling skill during his Dallas audition, where he wowed the judges with an original song. But since that first appearance Todrick’s progress onstage and off has been fraught with drama. Group auditions didn’t exactly paint him in a positive light.

James Cameron To Pen Avatar Prequel

Los Angeles: After taking the world by storm with his 3-D magic Avatar, director James Cameron is all set to write the prequel to the film in the form of a novel.
Producer of the film Jon Landau has revealed that the Oscar-winning filmmaker will be writing a “big, epic story”, but it is not a novelisation of the movie, reported a music channel website.
“A novelisation basically retells the story of the movie. Jim wants to write a novel that is a big, epic story that fills in a lot of things,” said Landou.
The book will provide details which could not be included in the movie due to time constraint.
“(We) won’t have time to do (these stories) in the movie, or maybe in sequels. (So the novel will) give a foundation for the world. It would be something that would lead up to telling the story of the movie,” said Landou.
Although Cameron has written screenplays earlier, from the first two Terminator films to Titanic, the Avatar prequel would mark his debut as a novelist.
“I don’t think Jim has ever written a novel before, but his first step of writing a script is often in a novella format. So this is just expanding that, and I think that he’ll be very adept at it,” Landou said.

Pink Grammy Performance

Pink Grammy Performance 2010 is a performance worth an award. Pink Grammy performance is creating a buzz, and rightfully so. The singer who has brought us many songs like “Sober” and “Get the Party Started” wowed the Grammy Awards crowd with her over the top performance.
For those that missed the Gra
mmy Awards, a video of the performance can be found below.
At first, it appears if Pink will be covered up during her performance. However, she dropped her sheer body covered robe to showcase a body suit that had lots of white straps strategically covering the parts that must be covered to keep from having the FCC come crashing down on the network.
She went aerial, much as she did during the 2009 VMAs, and the result was a spectacular performance that many will be talking about for the next couple of days.
It’s performances like that from Pink that make us love the Grammy Awards so much. Even if she doesn’t win an award, she is a winner in the eyes of many people. Anyone that can perform some of the acrobatic stunts that she does is worthy of the standing ovation she received.

The film now stands at $2.04 billion and counting continued. According to film pundits, the sci-fi flick may set a record of $2.23billion in a fortnight. Elsewhere this weekend, Mel Gibson’s “Edge of Darkness” brought in $17.1 million in second place to open at the high end of expectations. Titanic Sinks Again

This time, the blockbuster movie is also gone down. Towards the end of the last decade, James Cameron’s epic Titanic became the most successful movie ever with global takings of $1.843billion during 31 weeks of ticket sales.
A new record is under makings Avatar – also directed by Cameron – which this week stole its crown as the all-time global box office champ, with receipts of $1.859billion in just 39 days of release.
Avatar has been able to build on their success, capitalizing on the higher ticket prices cinema chains have been charging to see it in stereoscope. Two movies doing business around $ 2billion is an astonishing achievement for the 55-year-old Canadian, and one that is unlikely to be repeated in his or our lifetimes.
