ABBOTABAD: A light earthquake shook Abbotabad, Mansehra, Muzabbarabad and other parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sunday morning, Trend Pk reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
According to reports, the 3.2 magnitude quake was felt in parts of Abbotabad, Bagh, Mansehra, Balakot and Azad Kashmir, spreading panic among people, who came out of their homes. Trend Pk
India ready to take up all outstanding issues with Pakistan: Nirupama
Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao has said that India is prepared to discuss all contentious issues with Pakistan, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, to ensure stability in the South Asian region. Talking to mediamen in Boston Nirupama said, The issue of Jammu & Kashmir comes up in our relationship with Pakistan and we are prepared to discuss all outstanding issues with Pakistan. We want to discuss all the outstanding issues and that will also include the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.The top diplomat, who was in Washington earlier to discuss President Obama’s upcoming India visit in November, stressed that Kashmir is an internal matter as far as India is concerned.It is an internal affair because it (Kashmir) is an integral part of India.
Negotiation only way to resolve issues: FO
Talking to Dunya News, Foreign Office Spokesperson Abdul Basit said that Pakistan has always been asking India to resolve all the outstanding issues particularly Kashmir through talks. We are happy over Nirupamas statement, the FO spokesperson said.
The Spokesman said that above 100 Kashmiris have embraced martyrdom during the last three months which is a matter of concern for all.
We are very much concerned with the situation and we understand that this issue cannot be solved through the use of force, he said.
India ready for dialogues with Pakistan: Rao

BOSTON: India is prepared to ‘discuss all outstanding issues’ with Pakistan, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, to ensure stability in the South Asian region, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said in Boston.
“The issue of Jammu & Kashmir comes up in our relationship with Pakistan and we’ve said very clearly, very confidently and very transparently that we are prepared to discuss all outstanding issues with Pakistan,” Rao said on Sunday.
Rao added that India wants to “persevere in our dialogue with Pakistan. It is not about segmenting this dialogue or taking away the complicated issues from it saying we are not ready to discuss it.
That is certainly not our approach.
We want to discuss all the outstanding issues and that will also include the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Yasin Malik’s cousin succumbs

SRINAGAR: Yasir Hameed Sheikh, cousin of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, who was injured in police firing at Maisuma here on August 30 succumbed to his injuries on late Wednesday night in New Delhi.
A close aide of Yasin Malik told that Sheikh had been referred to Apollo hospital in New Delhi a few days ago.
“Arrangements are being made to get his body to Srinagar for last rites,” Malik’s aide added.
With Yasir’s death, the toll has mounted to 96. SAMAA
Sardar Atiq returns unopposed as AJK PM
ISLAMABAD: President Muslim Conference, Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan has been elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir unopposed, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Sardar Atiq was the only candidate filing nomination papers for the top slot of AJK Premiership.
He will take vote of confidence from the members of AJK Legislative Assembly Thursday.
COAS tenure extension challenged in PHC
PESHAWAR: The extension in service awarded to Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has been challenged in Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Shahid Orakzai filed a writ petition against the extension of COAS tenure in PHC. The petitioner has adopted a stance that the in the wake of passage of the 18th amendment bill, the Prime Minister cannot hold direct consultation with the President.
The petition further said that under Article-243 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister is not competent to grant extension in service to the Army Chief on the basis of performance.
Shahid Orakzai prayed to the court to take notice of violation of the Constitution and called for the President to review the decision of extending Gen Kayani’s service as COAS.
