Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat
Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and chooses to bat first. He was success in this decision.
Mahela Jayawardene slammed an unbeaten 98 from 56 balls to motivate Sri Lanka to a 57-run victory over hosts West Indies in the World Twenty20 Super Eights Friday.
The in-form Jayawardene hits nine fours and four sixes as the guests compiled 195-3 from 20 overs, the highest total medal.
With his captain Kumar Sangakkara, who provided 68 of 49 deliveries, his second seal door stand of 166 was a record partnership for Sri Lanka in Twenty20s.
New-ball pair Nuwan Kulasekara and Angelo Mathews grabbed the key wicket of Gayle and Chanderpaul, correspondingly, within three balls of each other to leave the hosts 23 for two.
Ramnaresh Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo played so concrete to put on a stand of 53 but with 50 balls demanded his improvement was too slow, and when they left it was just too much for the lower order to do that wicket fell reasonably from then.
Quick Lasith Malinga made full use of the circumstances and three for 28 while Ajantha Mendis returned three of the 24.

West Indies outplay Ireland by 70 runs
PROVIDENCE: West Indies defeated Ireland by 70 runs in a low-scoring match on the first day of the ICC World Twenty20 here on Saturday.
The Irish team could not resist the West Indies pace attack whereas Gary Wilson was the only batsman to enter into double-figures with 17 runs. However, the top-scorer of the Irish innings was Mr Extras (19).
Darren Sammy and Ravi Rampaul were the mist successful bowlers taking three wickets each for eight and 17 runs, respectively, while Dwayne Bravo claimed two for five.
Earlier, minnows Ireland bowlers did a commendable job restricting hosts West Indies to 139 runs for nine wickets here in the second match of the ICC World Twenty20 here on Saturday.
Batting first after winning the toss, none of the West Indies batsmen could make any significant contribution as the team lost nine wickets for 139 in the allotted 20 overs.
Their main scorers were Darren Sammy (30) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (24).
For Ireland, George Dockrell captured three for 16 while Andre Botha, Alex Cusack and Boyd Rankin took two wickets each.

West Indies went into this match without off-spinner Sulieman Benn and fast bowler Jerome Taylor as both had shoulder injuries, with Taylor also sidelined with a twisted

Police said Taylor was drinking in the bar late on Wednesday when officers went in to close it after the operator had gone past the legal closing time. Taylor tried to prevent them from closing it and verbally abused them, police said.
Taylor, a native of St Elizabeth, has taken 82 wickets from 29 Test matches for the West Indies.

Australia ended the opening day’s play of the 1st Test at Gabba against West Indies at 322 for 5 after winning the toss. West Indies had a bright start when Shane Watson was lbw on nought after offering no shot to a Jerome Taylor inswinger. After that it was all Australia with Simon Katich (92 from 134 balls with 13 fours and a six) and Ricky Ponting (55 from 79 balls with 8 fours) laying the foundation for a big first innings score.
Michael Hussey scored 66 and Michael Clarke, Marcus North hit 40s to further consolidate the hosts. At stumps on Day 1, Australia have Marcus North on 42 along with wicket keeper Brad Haddin who is on 9. Dwayne Bravo picked up two wickets to be the most successful bowler of the day.
