Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani Monday made it clear that the army offensive in restive tribal region South Waziristan have been launched against terrorist elements of the area not the peaceful and patriot people of Mehsud tribes.
The pamphlets dropped in Pashto and Urdu language in South Waziristan carrying message from the Army Chief stated, “Pak Army’s operation’s purpose is not to target high-spirited and patriot people of Mehsud tribes but to free the area from terrorists’ occupation”. General Kayani also stated that the purpose of the operation was to eliminate Uzbek, foreigner and local terrorists and he believed that Mehsud tribes would stand beside Pak Army.

Jets pound militants in Orakzai, Mohmand Agency, 19 dead
Islamabad, Pakistan:- The security forces have launched massive air strike against militants in Mohmand and Orakzai Agency of Waziristan as 16 militants were killed in Mohmand Agency while 3 killed in Orakzai Agency by fighter jets’ bombing.
According to security forces, at least 7 militants were killed and 3 injured in Garhi area of Tehsil Saafi whereas 9 militants were killed and 4 injured in Dawezai area of Pandiali. Officials told that fighter jets destroyed a training centre of militants established in a Madrasah in Shamsha area of Baizai. The fighter jets targeted a militants’ hideout and killed 3 miscreants in Feroz Khel area of Orakzai Agency. The jet aircrafts also targeted a hideout of militants established in a degree college in upper Orakzai.

Manawan attack perpetrator gets 10 years imprisonment
Lahore, Pakistan:- Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has awarded ten years imprisonment to Hijratullah on charges of involvement in attack on Manawan Police Training Centre March this year.
ATC Judge Masood Arshad announced punishment while indicting Hijratullah for attacking Manawan Police Training Centre and killing more than 20 people during the hearing held at Kot Lakhpat Jail due to security concerns. Army troops apprehended Hijratullah from adjacent farm during an operation launched after militants attack on Manawan police training center. He was preparing for attack on amry helicopter.
