Makeup Ads featuring Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington Banned in the UK

The latest makeup ads for Lancôme and Maybelline feature Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington but they have now been banned in the U.K. over complaints that the images used in the campaigns were unrealistic and misleading.
L’Oréal Ltd., which owns both brands, has been forced to withdraw the ads after the U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority upheld complaints that were presented by MP Jo Swinson. They claim that the images were overly “overly perfected and unrealistic,” by being airbrushed and otherwise manipulated, and “not representative of the results the product could achieve.”
L’Oréal UK has admitted that Turlington’s image had been “digitally retouched to lighten the skin, clean up makeup, reduce dark shadows and shading around the eyes, smooth the lips and darken the eyebrows”. However, they also claimed there were still signs of ageing, such as crow’s feet, and that the image “accurately illustrated” the achieveable results.
The ASA has ruled that images from both of the campaigns breached the advertising standards code. As they exaggerate the effects of their products and are generally misleading to consumers. As a result, both have been banned from future publication in the UK.
Emma Watson is the New Ambassador for Lancome
Emma Watson has been busy making a new name for herself since completing the Harry Potter series. Although she’s currently busy promoting the final Harry Potter film, Emma Watson has just been made the new face of Lancome. It was only last week that Emma announced that she’s taking a break from her studies at Brown University.
Emma actually made the announcement herself via Twitter. Soon after the news was made official by Lancome when they released a statement saying;
“Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation. We are delighted by the new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancome.”
It won’t be Emma’s first modeling job, she has done some fashion modeling for Burberry. Lancome is well known for hiring actresses for their campaigns; Kate Winslet, Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz and Uma Thurman have also been the faces for Lancome. Emma Watson will be one of the youngest celebrities to represent the brand.
Karan Johar’s Stepmom remake titled as We Are Family
It starred Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts and it will now star Kajol and Kareena Kapoor. The Stepmom remake that has been in news for quite a while had been haggling for a fitting title for quite sometime. While on one side the release date was a big question mark, Karan Johar turned to twitter to look for an apt title.
He left the title open for discussion to all his followers and in came the rather creative and some humorous options. Today, on twitter, Karan has finally announced the final and official title of his remake film, which is We Are Family. As about the release date, the tweet said, “…will post the release date in a few days!!”K
We Are Family stars Kajol, Kareena and Arjun Rampal and is directed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra.
Hrithik Roshan signed for Shekhar Kapur’s Paani
Making a film is never an easy task. Who can say this better than Shekhar Kapur, the acclaimed director of some mega big films, who has finally announced his next titled Paani. The film in question has been in the news for quite some time now, five years to be precise. Bearing witness to this is Shekhar’s blog post on August 6, 2005, stating, “Today another dream was rekindled. Paani! A film that has lived in my consciousness for almost 5 years, when I watched 50 women and children standing in the hot sun in Mumbai, with each carrying a bucket, waiting for a tap to start dripping with water.
Paani means Water in Hindi.
I had just come down from a friends place in Pali Hill, one of the more expensive residential areas in Mumbai. My friend had me waiting for half an hour while he showered. He lived on the 30th floor, and the slum where there was no water was just below his apartment building. This inequity in the most basic resource necessary for human survival set me thinking and a story developed.

However, after this long hiatus, Shekhar will finally be making the film with Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Confirming this is Hrithik’s wife Sussane Roshan’s tweet, “H has signed Paani..”
While on the other hand speaking about the rumours of having Kristen Stewart in the film Shekhar tweets, “Kristen Stewart fr Paani: ppl jumpng to conclusions, she’s terrific n lv her, bt we have had just 1 conv so far.”
On the other hand, Shekhar will also be directing a biopic of famed English explorer George Mallory to be produced by Hollywood star Julia Roberts and director Kevin Townsend. Kapur confirmed the same at the Cannes Film Festival recently.
With the announcement of his next two films, Kapur is all set to jump back in action again and that’s surely good news for the film industry.

And anticipating a huge opening weekend for the romantic blockbuster, producers at New Line Cinema are already busily working on a sequel to the ensemble comedy, Variety said Monday.
Director Garry Marshall is stepping behind the camera again to helm the buzzed-about follow-up, New Year’s Eve. The Valentine’s Day sequel will feature many of the same characters descending on New York City on Dec. 31 to watch the old year turn into a new one filled with possibilities, according to the trade paper.
The film is slated for release late next year.

Khloe Kardashian Wedding Pictures, Khloe Kardashian’s new wedding pictures could make someone rich,according to the Associated Press. They report that Kris Jenner who is Khloe’s mom and manager, brokered a deal with OK! magazine to sell Khloe Kardashian’s wedding pictures for $300,000.
Lamar Odom, who is Khloe’s husband will not get any money from the deal. So, basically Khloe Kardashian just landed a $300,000 payday for getting married. Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom reportedly just met during the summer and started dating not long after that.
Then they decided to go ahead and get married this month. TMZ reported that it was mostly Lamar’s idea to go ahead and get married so quickly. Her mom, Kris Jenner was very smart with that OK! magazine deal,though. I want a deal like that.
They report that paparazzi and other bootleg photographers most likely tried to get shots,so we could see some surface online,anyways.

Julia Roberts Film Set In India, Security High Alert

MIRZAPUR: Young boys climbed trees and villagers crowded rooftops in a tiny dusty village in northern India Sunday to catch a glimpse of Academy Award winner Julia Roberts shooting her new film, “Eat, Pray, Love.”
Scores of policemen, armed with bamboo sticks, private guards and plainclothes security guards kept curious visitors at bay as the “Pretty Woman” star walked about the sets created at Mirzapur village, 65 kilometers (40 miles) south of the Indian capital, New Delhi. Huge black screens protected the sets from television crews and photographers.
Roberts was dressed in a turquoise blue tunic and loose pajamas, the traditional clothes worn by millions of Indian women. In the film, she plays the part of an American woman who leaves behind a troubled marriage and sets out on a journey of self-discovery.
Newspapers and television stations in India have been covering Roberts’ every move since she arrived in India accompanied by her three children nearly 10 days ago.
Security has been tight with about 50 local policemen and security officers guarding the star in the village and in the nearby small town of Pataudi, where Roberts is staying at a former palace converted into a heritage hotel.
The shooting of the film began a few days ago, and started with prayers offered by a Hindu priest.
A local newspaper quoted the priest, Swami Dharam Dev, as saying he had given the names of Hindu gods for her three children.
“I have named her twins Hazel and Phinnaeus as Laxmi and Ganesh, while Henry will be called Krishna Balram,” he was quoted as saying.
The movie, a Brad Pitt production, is directed by Ryan Murphy. It also stars Oscar-winner Javier Bardem, Viola Davis, Richard Jenkins and Billy Crudup.
