KARACHI: At least two activists of a political party were killed and another five sustained injuries amid a bomb attack that ripped through an office of political party in Lyari locality, meanwhile, the wave of unrest stood spreading its wings over metropolis even on Tuesday. Six other Karachiites succumbed to gun attacks in different parts of bleeding metropolis, reports TrendPK.
As usual unknown/unidentified or better be termed as ghosts assailants threw hand grenades at the office of a political party located in Nawalain area which lie under the jurisdiction of Klakot police station and fled away like always. Up to two ill-fated, identified as Dad Rehman and Haji Somar, were killed and five injured including two women.
Injured were shifted to Civil Hospital followed by that the area residents took to street for a futile demo against the act of well-established barbarianism. Police arrived on the crime scene and surrounded it amid stringent security and then called in bomb disposal squad to examine the place where the bombs had hit.
Deceased Haji Somar was the sole bread and butter winner of his family.
Moreover, six Karachiites were gunned down amid incidents of unprovoked firing in separate areas. Nauman was killed in New Karachi. Gul Zaman was the second target of the day who was shot to kill in Jamshed Quarters. Afsar Khan was next to go in Pirabad of Orangi Twon. Bullets did not spare people in Sarjani Town either as Asghar was shot dead there. Unknown youth was butchered in Site Area while a security guard fell prey to indiscriminate firing in New Town. Karachiites suffer power failures despite winter, holiday

KARACHI: The load shedding continues in Karachi despite winter and holiday. The Karachiites suffer power cuts problem for five to eight hours daily.
The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) started long power cuts during the summer, saying that it did so because of increased demand of electricity in the city and dearth of enough gas supply. But now when the cold season has been started and the business activities all over the city are suspended due to holiday, people still suffer the problem for five to eight hours daily.
The sources told that Site industrial areas, Usmania Colony, Rizwia Society, Nazimabad number 3, Paposh Nagar, Pirabad, Ahsanabad and other areas face the load shedding problem on Sunday from 10am to 6pm due to repair work. Trend Pk

The light showers and cold breeze, which continue to lash Karachi for the two consecutive days, proved to be a much-needed relief for people as they headed to the city’s beaches to enjoy the weekend.
According to a Trend Pk correspondent, families are moving to beaches in large numbers from all over the city.

Karachi: Temporary lull in target killing
After 4 days of violence spree in which 68 people lost their lives, the Karachiites relieved a sigh of relief due to a temporary lull in the target killing incidents, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
Life seemed to be getting back to normal, but on a slow pace.
Educational institutes, filling stations and markets reopened while traffic also started running on the roads. However, as many as 12 people have fallen prey to the target killers remorseless firing.
KESC announces rise in power outages
Adding miseries to Karachiites’ woes, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has announced to increase the power outages across the metropolitan due to shortage of gas.
According to KESC spokesperson, the decision to the effect has been taken in the wake of the closure of Kadi Vari Gas Field for maintenance by Sui Southern Gas Company.
The closure would cause a shortage of 70 million cubic feet gas to KESC, which would result in lengthy outages in the city. The spokesman added that initially the gas supply has been suspended for 16 hours; however, the loadshedding could be extended to another day if the supply remained short. Gas shortage would cause an 8 hour power breakdown in industrial as well as residential areas.
7 embrace death in Karachi violence
Violence refuses to give respite to Karachiites as at least seven people were killed while five others wounded in separate incidents of dacoity and targeted killing in the metropolis, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
Unidentified men gunned down Gul Muhammad Khan, 17, near Metroval Site area while Muhammad Din (35) was shot dead in Orangi Town No.10. His body has been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Unknown motorcyclists opened fire at three people standing outside their home. As a result, Akbar died on the spot while Muhammad Irfan and Shahbaz received serious gunshots who were taken to a nearby hospital.
In another incident, one Nazar Muhammad was killed in a rickshaw on intercepting a robbery bid; Muhammad Anwar died in firing on a bus near bus station. Sakhi Dad (24) was shot dead in Gulistan Jhauhar while Muhammad Ahmed, 25, got killed in Rehri Goth.
Dead body of a woman has been found who was said to be stabbed to death in Korangi 6. Three people got injured in a crossfire between two rival groups while angry people set a motorcycle on fire in New Karachi.
Phet enters India; sea turns to normal
KARACHI: The panic-triggering tropical cyclone Phet that kept Karachiites worried for over past couple of days, moved past Sindh’s coastline and fizzled out by turning into less-pressure winds, Geo News reported Monday.
Talking to Geo News, DG Meteorological Department Dr Qamaruz Zaman Chaudhry said Phet, turning into low pressure winds, entered India’s Rajasthan, leaving no chances of showers in Sindh including Karachi.
The DG Met said the rain spell might begin in Pakistan’s areas including Upper Punjab and other plain areas owing to the presence low-pressure winds in Indian Punjab.
He said the weather conditions also improved in Karachi and other coastal areas, which make it possible for the fishermen in Sindh to go fishing in open sea.
