f34f643a06Banned.jpg Entry of LHC Chief Justice in Lahore Bar BannedLAHORE, News Trends: Punjab Bar Council and the Lahore Bar Association in a joint session banned the entry of Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Sharif, Aitzaz Ahsan and other senior lawyers into the bar premises.

A joint session of  Punjab Bar Council and the Lahore Bar Association was held at Iwan-e-Adl, which decided to suspend the licences of senior lawyers and sons of the Lahore High Court Chief Justice.

Those whose entry in the Bar premises banned include the two sons and son in law of CJ Khawaja Sharif and senior lawyers including in Justice retired Tariq Mehmood, Hamid Khan and others.

Talking to media after the meeting Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council Mumtaz Mustafa condemned manhandling of lawyers by police. He alleged that the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Mohammed Sharif has been directly involved in Friday incident.

Kurd blames Kh Sharif for Bar-Bench crisis

Former president Supreme Court Bar Association Ahmed Ali Kurd on Monday held Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif responsible for the clash between the lawyers and lower court judges.
Addressing a meeting of Lahore High Court Bar Association, Kurd maintained that the issue of transfer of D&SJ Zawar Sheikh has been rearing its head for the last three months, adding that had it been heeded, it would not have snowballed into a serious Bar-Bench row.
Rapping Justice Khawaja Sharif, if he had scruples, he would have come to Aiwan-e-Adl on foot to save the blackcoats from police highhandedness.

LAHORE: Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Khawaja Sharif, and several key lawyer leaders, including Aitzaz Ahsan and Hamid Khan, have been banned from entering Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA).

In a joint meeting held today, LHCBA and Punjab Bar Council (PBC) decided to impose a ban on Chief Justice Khwaja Sharif, his two sons and son-in-law, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Qazi Anwar, Justice (retd.) Nasira Javed, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Hamid Khan and Athar Minallah from entering the bar.

They also decided to cancel the licenses of these lawyers.

LHCBA leaders alleged that the above mentioned people tried to damage the sanctity of the bar by speaking against the lawyers. They further said that Justice Khwaja Sharif had ordered police to baton-charge the protesting lawyers.

Taseer accuses PML-N of plotting against PPP

Punjab Governor Salman Tasser expressed strong resentment on leakage of Khawaja Sharif’s murder plot report and termed the development as a plot against democracy.
Addressing a news conference in Lahore, Taseer alleged that PML-N activist and workers were involve in the leakage of the report. He further hinted that the Chief Minister’s Secretary is involved in disclosing the secret report of the alleged murder plot.
An inquiry should be made to ascertain whether or not the report was exposed with the consent of Shahbaz Sharif, he said.
He said: I have requested Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to set up a special judicial commission to probe the report.

Hoti demands investigation into killing of Puktoons in Karachi

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkwa Province, Amir Haider Hoti has demanded an in-depth investigation into killing of Puktoons in Karachi so that the conspiracy of sowing hatred among people on linguistic basis be scuttled in the beginning.

He expressed these views while talking with newsmen in Mardan on Saturday on the occasion of inauguration of academies under Malik Saad Shaheed Sports Trust.

The Chief Minister said the conspiracy of killing outsiders in Karachi be scuttled at the earliest otherwise it will cause enormous damage.

He said government of Khyber-Pakhtunkwa has taken notice of the incident and contacted government of Sind and asked them to ensure protection and safety to Pukhtoons residing in Karachi.

He said it is very ironical that on the one hand Pukhtoons are being killed and on the other hand they are being blamed for the riots.

Independence of Judiciary to be ensured at any cost: CJ LHC

JAND: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif Saturday said that independence of judiciary would be ensured in the country at any cost.

“For the supremacy of law, every sacrifice would be made,” the CJ LHC stated this while addressing judges and advocates here today.

In the eyes of judiciary, the rich and poor all are equal, he said.

Chief Justice LHC Khawaja Sharif said that upgradation of Jand Courts to Sessions Division was his duty.

Violators of law would be dealt with an iron hand, he determined while emphasising that the federal and provincial governments to respect the law.

He lauded the role of media, lawyers and society for the independence of judiciary.

CJ LHC asked the lawyers to stop observing strikes as it would hamper the speedy justice. He urged the people to play their due role in the development of the country.

Drone attacks: LHC seeks reply from interior ministry

Lahore High Court sought reply from the interior ministry on drone attacks.
Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif heard the case filed against the drone attacks in tribal belt of the country.
The petitioner contended that the drone strikes are dangerous for the integrity and solidarity of a free state and as such the attacks are intolerable.
The CJ ordered the interior ministry to submit reply in court on the issue.
The case has been adjourned till May 28.

Federal and provincial governments assured the court of Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif to provide full security to accused Lakhvi and his lawyer Khawaja Sultan. Advocate Sultan told the court that the government was pressursing the judge in Pindi court. He maintained that Indian intelligence agencies are following them so their lives are under threat.
The high court upheld the verdict and the decision would be announced tomorrow.

3020fff43627 big LHC: Full Bench To Hear Plea Against Bar On Becoming PM For 3rd TimeChief Justice Lahore High Court on Thursday has formed a full bench under the head of Justice Saqib Nisar to hear the plea seeking annulment of the bar on becoming prime minister for the third time.
LHC Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif has set up the full bench on the request of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa. The bench consisted Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Ijaz Chaudhry, Justice Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Ata Bandial. The bench would start hearing in this connection from February 15. The petitioner argued in the plea that the bar on becoming prime minister for the third time was against the basic human rights and as such it should be revoked.
