Port is allegedly dating a former associate producer with âThe City,â Tim Rosenman, after having a crush on him for some time, states UsMagazine.com. The two reportedly kept in touch after her reality show ended, but didnât start dating until some time after her split with Nemtin.
Port and Rosenman allegedly vacationed together this January in Miami.

âChronicleâ is a compelling character drama, a visual dazzler

By Scott Mendelson
TrendPK.com: Iâve written a lot over the last couple years about how, if superhero films are going to survive, they are going to have to be able to be about something other than the generic tropes of superhero comic book adventures. Captain America excelled because it was a World War II period action drama, while Green Lantern mostly faltered because it wasnât about anything other than its own conventions. Chronicle (written by Max Landis and directed by Josh Trank) is a shining example of a powerful emotional tragedy that involves certain comic book conventions without really being about them. At heart, the picture is a fierce rebuttal of the now-cliche âwith great power comes a superior destinyâ motif that has been central to the last ten years of big-budget fantasy pictures, both those based on comics and those based on young-adult fantasy novels. More than just a deconstruction of fantasy tropes, Chronicle is a thoughtful and empathetic story of three disparate teens who end up with special powers and how it does or does not change them.
Although it is an unofficial member of the âfound footageâ school, it uses that oft-derided format to its advantage, bringing intimacy and realism to the forefront (it helps that the film looks visually engaging and has a bare minimum of âshaky camâ effect). While this may be damning with faint praise, Chronicle is arguably the best âfound footageâ film yet made, using the technique to make its special effects feel truly special. It also contains the truest and most compelling variation on the that classic âthey discover they have powersâ concept, feeling absolutely authentic as the three young men explore their new found abilities in not very heroic ways (my favorite involves playing that prank in a toy store that youâve always dreamed of doingâŚ). This experimentation phase culminates in a soaring bit of action and special effects that feels far more real than any number of $100-200 million franchise pictures that have tried the same effect. The is a plausibility to the effects work and to the scenarios being played out that renders them genuinely special and that-much more engaging. It is one thing to believe your eyes when youâre seeing practical stunt work. It is another thing to absolutely believe your eyes when youâre seeing something that cannot actually be real.
But the picture is more than just a demo reel of how to make cheap special effects look better than far-more expensive visuals. The picture is a true character study, centering around the three young men who stumble upon what can only be described as âsuper powersâ. The filmâs main point-of-view is young Andrew Detmer (Dane DeHaan), who initially begins filming in order to document the violent abuse of his drunken father and the medical suffering of his terminally-ill mother. The two other main characters are Andrewâs cousin Matt (Alex Russell) and Steve Montgomery (Michael B. Jordan), a popular and extroverted student who just happens to stumble upon the mysterious underground rock at the wrong time. Everyone shines and everyone â supporting cast, cameo players, etc â give superb slice-of-life performances. The screenplay gives the three leads so much depth that you realize about halfway in that Steve isnât just âthe token black guyâ, but a full-blown lead character in this drama. The few female characters are pretty thin, but they are both accorded appropriate respect and not overused for the sake of having a pretty girl to put on the poster (Ashley Hinshaw does fine understated work as Mattâs crush).
Where this story goes I will not reveal, only to say that it is just slightly disappointing that the film doesnât play around with certain formulas a bit more in the third act. Once you figure out just what story is being told, you can pretty-well map out what will transpire. But the telling is solid, with Trank and Landis confidently bringing their story to its inevitable conclusion even as we hope for a different outcome. What works in a narrative sense is the refusal to paint an arc for each major character in a conventional sense. Andrew and Matt donât change all that much throughout the film, while Steve merely opens up a bit as he finds himself socializing with people far outside his usual peer group.
Also giving the story an added gravitas is the fact that the majority of the school is not made up of bullies and would-be enemies. When Andrew gets a brief moment of social acceptance, it feels real because it IS real. Most of the kids in this film are relatively decent people, which adds a level of pathos as we realize that Andrew has been self-ostracized and beaten-down by his father for so long that he doesnât know how to deal with something resembling friendship. This isnât a case of Anakin Skywalker going to the dark side because none of the Jedi bothered to intervene, or a case of Carrie White being endlessly tormented until she exploded in a fiery rage. Chances are missed and the wrong things are occasionally said, but there is potential for a happy ending, although I will not reveal if one actually occurs.
When a genre becomes old enough or repeated often enough, the tropes become so familiar that the deconstructions become more engaging and entertaining than the real thing. When film critics discuss their favorite westerns, it is usually films like The Searchers, Lonesome Dove, and Unforgiven that get heralded above the others. By looking at the genre motifs with a somewhat clinical eye, it is that much easier to find profundities within the genre trappings while both being of and standing apart from that genre. Chronicle attempts something even trickier, which is to examine the messages and ideologies of the super-hero drama without actually existing in said genre, while telling a fantastical story in an absolutely relatable and plausible fashion. It is not a super hero picture in any conventional sense, but it has an awful lot to say about them.

Brad Pitt not opposed to using Coca-Cola to wake kids up

TrendPK.com: It seems even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have to struggle with trying to wake some of their kids up, but the actor has a trick that apparently helps him out.
Pitt recently admitted that he occasionally bribes his children with the offer of Coca-Cola to wake them up in the morning, states UsMagazine.com. âI admit thereâs times like, âWe gotta get up. Get up! Hereâs your shoes. Hereâs your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca-Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!â Just so we could get âem up and going,â Pitt revealed.
And considering how busy their lives are with all their traveling, those children probably need a few sips in the morning to get going.
What do you think about this trick?

Mark Wahlberg apologizes for 9/11 comments

LOS ANGELES: Actor Mark Wahlberg apologized for saying events may have turned out differently had he been on one of the planes that crashed on 9/11, after incurring the wrath of critics and one victim’s widow.
“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry,’” the actor said in an interview with Men’s Journal magazine that was released one day earlier.
“The Fighter” star, 44, was scheduled to be on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2011 and made the comments in that context, but after media outlets reported that a widow of one 9/11 victim called his comments “disrespectful,” the actor issued a formal apology.
“To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with, and to suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible. I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention,” Wahlberg said in a statement.
The Oscar-nominated actor, who started his career in music as rapper Marky Mark, transitioned into film and is currently promoting “Contraband,” a high-octane action movie in which he plays a former smuggler forced to protect his brother-in-law. AGENCIES

Rihanna, a Mom in a Year?

Rihanna is now thinking about beginning a family together with her boyfriend, Matt Kemp, a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player. However, she insists of putting her career on hold as soon as she becomes a mother. She just recently released her new album âLoudâ in the top five on Wednesday. Although she admits that she is not yet pregnant, she says she might be a first-time mom in a year.
The pop star claimed that she can be a mother whenever it is right. It can be a year from now, or ten years from now. She says she still has a lot of things to accomplish before she gets kids. She will just know whenever the time is right. She also insisted that she can make a great mother unless her first child is a girl, since her daughter can be really rebellious. âShe would be like a bundle of karmaâ, Rihanna said.
Rihanna is also thinking about where she would like to raise her family. She wants to go home to Barbados, but for her this might be a far dream. She surely canât live that far with her kids because of her demanding schedule.
She has sold over 15 million albums and 45 million singles around the world. She made nine number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 since her first appearance on the chart on June 11, 2005. This is by far the greatest hits done by any artist during that span of time. As of July 23, 2010, Rihanna has sold approximately 5,563,000 album units in the US. But then, can Rihanna make a fantastic hit as a mom?
Elizabeth Edwards Funeral

Elizabeth Edwards Funeral: After all, Rielle Hunter hopes to marry John Edwards someday soon, which would make her stepmom to John and Elizabethâs kids, two who are still young and live at home. And, that aside, Rielle is already and forever the mother of the Edwards kidsâ half sister Quinn.
The kids are already blood-linked to Rielle for life through their youngest sibling. So whether anyone likes it or not, that little innocent child makes them all â even Elizabeth before her tragic passing â a blended family already, whether or not Rielle ultimately gets her ring from John or not.
And if she and John are still in a relationship, maybe he needs her, too. To be by his side so he can be strong for his children and all the other mourners.
So shouldnât Rielle, if she is his beloved, be there at the funeral?
Before you call me a wacky modern family lovefester, think about it. We donât know the intricacies of this blended family. Perhaps John and Rielle are still together in their private lives. Perhaps the kids already know and have a relationship with Rielle. Maybe their relationship, as painful as its start was to everyone involved, is ordinary life to them now. If so, what would they think if Rielle didnât show up to be there for them all in their time of need?
No doubt itâs interesting to ponder, right?
Of course, no matter what, I hope Rielle would respect the familyâs wishes if they donât want her to attend, for their own sakes or for the comfort of other attendees. After all, this day is not only for the immediate family, but it should be a safe place for close family and friends to remember Elizabeth Edwards, say goodbye, and pay their respects. This day should NOT be âinfectedâ by the precise crazymaking that made Elizabethâs last years so much more difficult than they had to be.
