We must not beg, says Nawaz Sharif

GUJRAT: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif Friday advised the government against being beggars.

Addressing party’s workers convention here, the PML-N chief said the biggest problem of the country today is power load shedding and unemployment; he vowed to end these problems when his party comes into power.

The PML-N chief said, “We should not beg for money from any country; instead, we should work hard for the development of our country.”

Sharif lamented on the overall situation of the country, saying people now need change as they are unhappy with the current government. TrendPK

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that if Charter of Pakistan (COP) will come out, it would be surly considered.

During his address in the 4th National Conference, organized by South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) in Islamabad, Gilani said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) are united on national interest.

He added that Pakistan is facing new challenges with every passing day and we need to develop a firm plan to deal with them.

PM sets up NODMC to ensure funds transparency

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday has established a 13-member National Oversight Disaster Management Council (NODMC) to ensure transparent use of funds for rehabilitating flood-hit areas.

UAG Eisani will be the chairperson of the council.

PM Gilani has set up this council over the proposal of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif.

The 13-member council comprises of three representatives of the federal government, two from each province, one member from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir respectively.

The representatives from federal government include Ijaz Rahee, Fauzia Naqvi and UAG Eisani.

Breach in Keenjhar Lake rose the inundation threat of Bhuttos native towns Ratu Dero and Garhi Khuda Bakhsh while ground links to Dera Allah Yar could not be restored even after the lapse of 11 days the.
Erosion in Surjani Bund would lead to submersion of many villages around Thatta as the 13 and 14 of lunar dates brought high tide to sea which is pushing back the floodwater to the abovesaid areas.
Hyderabad city has completely been made immune to flood threat; however seepage in a safety dyke flooded low-lying areas of Latifabad and Qasimabad. Mounting pressure on Thatta put Sajawal, Mirpur Bhattoro, Mirpur Sakro, Kati Bundar and Shah Bundar under danger of flooding. Protective embankments of Kotri developed breaches at six places whereas Jung Shahi and National Highway may face inundation due to surge in Kheenjar Lake. Meanwhile, a crack has bee emerged in Kirthar Canal near Larkana, owing to which water headed towards Shahdadkot, Ratu Dero and Garhi Khuda Bakhsh forcing the locals to move to safer places.
Ratu Dero district administration was building a safety bund while erosion in Saifullah Magsi Canal has submerged around 50 villages including Qubo Saeed Khan, Goth Abdul Jalil Barohi and Muhammad Bukhsh Khoso. Crack in FP protective bund enlarged the flood threat to areas adjacent to Wara and Qambar bunds. Flood tide of 800,000 cusecs is passing through the outskirts of Khairpur.
On the other hand, a new flood wave has entered which rose the water level in Suhbatpur, Rojhan Jamali and Gandakha.

Polling underway for PP-13 Rawalpindi

Polling for by-polls for PP-13 constituency is underway amid tight security in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
A neck-and-neck contest is expected between Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Haji Ghulam Raza and PML-Q candidate Chaudhry Adnan. A total of 11 candidates including Abid Pervez Mughal of Awami Muslim League (AML) are contesting for the seat.
An independent candidate, Raja Shahid, claimed that he has the support of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The PP-13 seat fell vacant when the Supreme Court disqualified PML-N MPA Yasir Raza for holding fake degree and ordered re-election in the constituency. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set up 108 polling stations including 52 for women and 56 for men. Polling is expected to conclude at 5 pm.

MQM submits two motions in NA

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has submitted two motions, privilege and adjourning motions against PML-N in the National Assembly (NA) secretariat, said sources on Tuesday.

The motions were submitted by Farooq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi and other members of MQM.

At least 25 National Assembly members signed the motions.

The privilege motion will seek to move the National Assembly against anti-democratic and anti-constitutional acts rendered by PML-N.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had submitted a privilege motion against the statements issued by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday, August 23.

Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) also submitted a privilege motion against the MQM chief in the Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa Assembly.

Nawaz urges end to conspiracies against judiciary

LAHORE: Quaid Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Mohammed Nawaz Sharif has urged for immediate end to conspiracies being hatched against judiciary here on Tuesday morning, Geo news reported.

Nawaz was addressing a meeting, chaired by his younger brother and Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammed Shahbaz Sharif, being attended as special appearance here at Chief Minister House.

Leader of Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Pervez Rasheed, Chief Secretary and Commissioner Lahore were also witnessing his address.

Senor Sharif said he was strongly against instability of state’s institutions, adding that he was in favour of politics of reconciliation to flourish.
