In a rematch of one of the better fights of the last few years Scott Jorgensen avenged his controversial decision loss with a clear decision victory over Antonio Banuelos.
Banuelos was able to land good combination punches and several hard left hands en route to winning the first round. In the second and third Jorgensen was the fresher man and began to use small head movement and more disciplined striking to take the fight over. In the third round Jorgensen landed a nice straight punch that dropped Banuelos. Scott followed him to the ground and spent the majority of the round in back control doing damage.WEC 48 Main Card Results

In the UFC’s first show in the Middle East and its first outdoors, underdog Frankie Edgar won a unanimous decision against BJ Penn last night to claim the lightweight title at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Penn (15-6-1) had been the UFC’s lightweight champion since January 2008, but Edgar (12-1) picked him apart with energy and movement. He even took down Penn twice, the first time he’d been taken down in six years at that weight class.
In boxing action:
Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield stopped Frans Botha in the eighth round at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The 47-year-old Holyfield (43-10-2) knocked the 41-year old Botha (47-5-3) down with 2:36 left in the round with a right to the left chin.
Andre Berto stopped Carlos Quintana in the eighth round in Sunrise, Fla., to retain his WBC welterweight championship at the BankAtlantic Center.
