KARACHI,News Trends: A local court Wednesday handed life term to Afaq Ahmed and Amir Khan, two leaders of Muhajir Qaumi Movement.
Afaq Ahmed and Amir Khan were arrested in 2004 for involvement in the case.

Over 200,000 flee military offensive in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The United Nations said more than 200,000 people have fled a recent military offensive against Taliban militants in northwestern Pakistan.
The military has intensified operations in the Orakzai tribal region in the last few weeks with constant airstrikes and occasional ground battles against the militants. Officials said more than 300 suspected insurgents have been killed since mid-March.
The U.N. said Monday that almost 210,000 have fled Orakzai since the fighting first started at the end of last year. Nearly 50,000 people have fled in the last month alone.
Shahbaz seeks US cooperation in energy sector
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistan is passing through a severe energy crisis, which affects the development process.
During a meeting with a delegation of USAID headed by Dr. Rajiv Shah, CM Punjab has asked US to cooperate in energy sector. He said Pakistan is facing menaces of extremism and terrorism. Pakistan Army, Police and people of Pakistan wrote a new history by sacrificing their lives in war against terror.
Shahbaz said good governance and corruption free culture has been promoted in the province and third party audit system has been implemented for transparent completion of projects.
Administrator USAID Dr. Rajiv Shah said US is cooperating with Pakistan in energy, education, agriculture and infrastructure sectors. He lauded the projects of government of Punjab.
Court orders to register case against Asif
LAHORE: A local court ordered to register case against cricketer Muhammed Asif on the plea by actress Veena Malik, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Veena Malik requested a local court to jump-start legal action against Asif for giving her fake cheque.
Malik said in her p lea that Asif took from her money worth over Rs10 million and the cheque he gave her to return the money, turned out to be fake.
The local bank confirmed the same. On this, Additional Session Judge Khalid Bashir ordered to register case against the Cricketer.
The orders were given to file a case in Ghalib Market area of Gulberg.
Court Issues Warrant of Parvez Ashraf
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Court Issues Warrant of Parvez Ashraf, A local court here on Saturday issued arrest warrant of Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Parvez Ashraf and others and ordered the police to present the accused before the court on Nov. 21.
On Saturday, local court’s judge Justice Rai Afzaal Kharal ordered the police to arrest federal minister, PPP leader Shahzad Kausar Gilani and others and present them before the court on continuous absence from the proceeding.
It was the fifth time the warrants have been issued in the case of the accused including Ashraf, the channel added.
