Suicide bomber kills 15 in Kohat

KOHAT:- At least 15 people were killed and scores of others wounded on Wednesday after a suicide bomber ripped through a crowded bus stand in Kohat.

The blast took place at the main bus stand in Kohat’s Tirah Bazaar area.

The dead and injured were shifted to local hospitals where an emergency was declared.

Hospital sources confirmed the demise of 15 people in the attack.

Train derailed on Norway-Sweden border, injuring 40

OSLO: About 40 people were injured when a passenger train travelling between Oslo and Stockholm was derailed near the Norwegian-Swedish border on Friday, the Norwegian railway company NSB said.

None of the injuries were life threatening, NSB said. The train had approximately 280 passengers on board.

“The injured were taken to local hospitals and some back to Oslo, while the others spent the night in the local city hall and were taken to their final destination on buses this morning,” a NSB spokesman said on Saturday. AGENCIES

Six dead, over 300 hurt in China pipeline blast

BEIJING: At least six people died and more than 300 others were injured in an explosion when a chemical pipeline ignited in eastern China on Wednesday, state media reported.

The blast occurred in the city of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, at about 10:00 am (0200 GMT), China National Radio said on its website. It said a pipeline carrying ethylene blew up on the grounds of an abandoned plastics factory.

The official news agency said its reporters had seen six people recorded as dead at nearby hospitals. More than 300 people, including 52 with serious injuries, were rushed to local hospitals for treatment, the China News Service said.

Authorities were still trying to determine the total number of casualties from the blast, which blew out windows in buildings up to 300 meters (yards) away, reports said. The explosion hit a bus passing through the area, injuring many passengers, agency said.

The injured were immediately ferried to local hospitals where emergency have been declared.

Police and law enforcement personnel have cordoned off the blast site.

The mourners continued the procession despite the gory incident.

Police and law enforcement agencies had already beefed up security and snap checking in the city but the terrorist elements succeeded in their heinous designs.
