Johnny Depp to Guest-star in New Ricky Gervais Sitcom

Ricky Gervais has another TV sitcom in the pipeline called “Life’s Too Short”, Johnny Depp has signed up for a spot on the show. Gervais confirmed the news himself by writing on his blog “This Side of The Truth“. But he also confirms the rumor that Jerry Seinfeld will take part is just that, a rumor;

“The Depp bit is true. The Seinfeld bit isn’t.”

The shows story revolves around the day to day frustrations experienced by Warwick Davis. His character is an egomaniac dwarf who runs a talent agent for dwarves. As Gervais describes the show;

“Third in our trilogy of TV sitcoms, Life’s Too Short is another naturalist observational comedy, dealing with everyday problems, human foibles and social faux pas… but with a dwarf.”

The new BBC2 comedy is expected to have various cameo’s by big names. Gervais has co-written the sitcom with his longtime creative partner Stephen Merchant and they are both likely to cameo in the show themselves. “Life’s Too Short” will also air on HBO as a six episode series.

Putin chief of staff among Moscow mayor candidates

MOSCOW: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday approved a shortlist of four candidates to replace the sacked mayor of Moscow, including the chief of staff of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Medvedev, who dismissed Yuri Luzhkov last month after the longtime mayor targeted him with rare public criticism, has 10 days to pick a new mayor for Moscow, a city of 10.5 million that accounted for about one-quarter of Russia’s economy in 2009.

The four candidates are Sergei Sobyanin, Putin’s chief of staff; Igor Levitin, Russia’s transport minister since Putin’s 2000-08 presidency; Lyudmila Shvetsova, a first deputy Moscow mayor; and Valery Shantsev, a former Luzhkov deputy who is mayor of Nizhny Novgorod.

Isha Koppikar wedding with Timmy Narang

Actress Isha Kopikar to exchange nuptial vows with her longtime beau Timmy Narang on Sunday.

The two got married at the ISKCON Temple in Juhu in a private ceremony that was attended by close family and friends. It was a traditional Maharashtrian style wedding that reportedly lasted for about four hours. Since the auspicious time scheduled for the wedding was 11am, it was a daytime wedding.

“I am very excited and I can’t wait to get married,” Narang, a restaurateur, told reporters before entering the temple.

33-year-old Isha wore a red and yellow sari while the groom was dressed in a cream sherwani.

An official from the temple is quoted as saying: “They brought their own priest and we just provided the hall and the food. They had a booking here from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.”
