While talking to the media, after an Iftar diner, Kausar said that a meeting of all political parties would be called to promulgate the new FATA Act according to its true spirit, adding that proposals and suggestions would also be soughed from all political leaders.

The governor said that the political parties, civil society and representatives of lawyers’ bodies had welcomed the amendment FCR, Political Parties Act and other steps had been taken for the welfare of the FATA.

He stated that the amendment in FATA Act was the part of the PPP’s manifesto and more amendments would be made if necessary.

President Asif Ali Zardari believes on reconciliation policy so that anybody could not derail political system, he added. He termed FATA operation a great success and said that they were trying to maintain peace in the area through holding dialogues with all political parties and starting political activities.

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday reaffirmed the need for dialogue with both Pakistan and China to resolve outstanding issues, and said his meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao saw both sides concurring on the need to remove misunderstandings between each other.

One reflection of China’s desire to narrow the areas of differences was Mr. Wen accepting Dr. Singh’s invitation to visit India in the near future, during which they would attempt a practical, pragmatic and satisfactory solution to the border problem.

Till the border issue was solved, the Hanoi interaction saw both Prime Ministers agreeing on the need to maintain peace and tranquillity on the Line of Actual Control.

The possible meeting between the two Prime Ministers in Delhi before the end of the year would be preceded by the arrival of senior Chinese leader Zhou Yong

Karachi grieves attack on Ghazis shrine; red alert across country

The Sunni Tehrik, along with the Jafria Alliance and Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen, announced a three-day mourning besides a call for protest over the twin suicide blasts hitting Abdullah Shah Ghazis shrine.
The toll from yesterday’s suicide attack rose to 9.
Meanwhile, in view of the bombing threat, security has been beefed up at all the shrines and mosques, Imam Barghas across the country.
Heavy police contingent are patrolling the main routes in all the big cities to maintain peace during Juma prayers.
Two suicide bombers ripped through shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Karachi on Thursday, killing at least nine people and injuring 60 others. Taliban claimed the responsibility of attacks.

During the hearing of case against Ms Afia for firing at an FBI agent in Afghanistan and having links with al-Qaeda, Dr Afia said that immense injustice has been meted out to her in the court and called for a right to select her own lawyers. She said she wanted to meet US President in order to convince him to maintain peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan regions. The prosecutors alleged that maps of statue of liberty and other US buildings besides list of bio chemical arms were recovered from her possession.
While Afia’s counsel said that there was no evidence nor any finger prints on the arms that were allegedly being recovered from her. The case was deferred till January 19.
