KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday took an aerial view of Azizabad’s Jinnah Ground to review the security arrangements ahead of the arrival of Dr. Imran Farooq’s body from London.
The funeral and burial ceremonies of Dr. Imran Farooq are scheduled to be held on Saturday.
The Interior Minister directed concerned officials to make strident security arrangements around Jinnah Ground.
MQM leaders, Ahmed Qaimkhani, Dr. Saghir Ahmed, Ashfaq Mangi, Iftikhar Akbar Randhava, Gul Faraza Khan Khatak and Rauf Siddiqi apprised the Interior Minister of security measures. Trend Pk
Rehman assures Punjab of Intel sharing
Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday pledged to flush out the terrorists from the country, adding that there back has been broken as several of them have been nabbed.
Briefing the media after holding a meeting with leaders of Jammat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Syed Munawar Hassan, Rehman said that intelligence information would be shared with Punjab to root out terrorists altogether.
He ruled out presence of any foreign agency in Pakistan. There is no presence of Blackwater or any other foreign agency in the country, he reiterated, adding that action will be taken within 24 hours if provided evidence in this regarding. Malik said that no compromise would be made on the countrys sovereignty. About his meeting with JI leaders, he said that the overall law and order situation came under discussion. I have sought help and guidance of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in the wake of growing attacks on shrines, he added. JI leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that those carrying out bombings on shrines would be identified. Speaking on this occasion, JI chief Munawar Hass said, There are reports about the presence of Blackwater and other foreign agencies in the country.
One suicide bomber identified: Rehman Malik
Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday told the National Assembly that one of the bombers, who attacked the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine on Thursday, has been identified.
The bomber is from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and is a member of the Mehsud tribe, Malik said. The recent blasts can be traced back to Waziristan, the minister said. The minister vowed to give a befitting response in case of violation of Pakistani air or ground space. He said that the government has registered its protest at every forum and a joint investigation by Pakistan Army and Nato is underway to ascertain the causes of the incursions inside Pakistan.
Indo-Pak talks to benefit both alike: US
WASHINGTON: Endorsing parleys between Indian and Pakistan, the US said on Friday that it is in the interest of the two South Asian neighbours to resolve their differences mutually through dialogue.
“We appreciate and certainly endorse increasing dialogue between Pakistan and India,” the State Department spokesman P J Crowley, told reporters at his daily news conference.
“It is in, you know, their self-interest and our larger interest to see dialogue that can help to resolve, you know, tensions that exist between the two countries,” Crowley said when asked about the talks between the Indian and Pakistani Foreign Secretary”s and Home Ministers in Islamabad.
Home Minister P Chidambaram met his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik on Friday night. Chidambaram is the first Indian Home Minister to visit Pakistan in three decades.
Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and his Indian counterpart Nirupama Rao had on Thursday exchanged proposals for addressing the issues constraining bilateral ties.

KARACHI, Pakistan News: The Accountability court has issued arrest warrants of Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday.
Accountability court judge Mir Muhammad Shaikh has issued the warrants in NAB reference. Earlier, NAB had filed a petition in Rawalpindi accountability court for the restoration of references against 19 persons including Rehman Malik.

WASHINGTON: No Coup Against Govt: Hussain Haqqani, Pakistan envoy in United States Hussain Haqqani has denied speculations of coup in Pakistan adding the NRO ruling of the apex court would not affect the government.
In interview to an American television the envoy said the cases against President Zardari were mere allegation and no charges against him proved so far.
He said there is no coup being cooked up in Pakistan, adding the past coups have turned out to be greatly detrimental to the country.
Everybody including Pakistan’s high military leadership have achieved consensus that the Army should focus on guarding the national borders and elected government should run the national affairs in accordance with the Constitution, he maintained.
