ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday requested the international community to write off $ 50 billion loans, adding that no one should demand ‘do more’, if those countries can’t help Pakistan against the menace of terrorism.
This was said by the Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday while addressing the Pakistan Development Forum meeting.
He was of the view that Pakistan was fighting war against terrorism for the survival of the whole world. Malik disclosed that 40,000 to 50,000 Afghans come Pakistan daily and, he added, most of them are terrorists.
“These terrorists have modern weapons. The international community could tell us from where these terrorists get such weapons,” he asked.
While talking to media persons, after the meeting, he said that the international community would write off Pakistan’s loans. Trend Pk

Rehman pledges stiff action against corrupt officials
Warning the public departments against the prevailing corruption, Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said that strict action against corruption will be taken after November 7.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad after visiting the FIA headquarters, Malik said that the heads of government institutions have been given a period of one week to take steps to eliminate corruption.
Malik said that the people should identify corrupt elements in the government institutions so that immediate action can be taken against them.
The minister also said that measures were being taken to combat human trafficking and that action will be taken against the staff deployed on checkpoints from where people were illegally leaving the country.
He said that action will be taken against extortionists and a special helpline will be established in this regard. Prior to his press conference, Malik, while touring the FIA headquarters, announced that the womens quota has been raised to 25 per cent in the FIA and also stated that employees salaries will now match those of the Motorway Police force.

Gastro claims two lives in Jafarabad

JAFARABAD: Two more women died of gastroenteritis in Jafarabad District Sunday as thousands of flood victims had been waiting for government’s help for the past eight days.
After wreaking havoc in Sindh, the deluge struck Dera Allah Yar, headquarter of Jafarabad, inundating more than 230 villages and leaving thousands of people homeless.
A large number of people had to take shelter in mosques. The number of deaths caused by gastro outbreak in Jafarabad rose to four.

Food, fuel crisis intensifies in Gilgit-Baltistan

GILGIT: The flood-ravaged Gilgit-Baltistan region continues to remain cut off from the rest of the country over government’s failure to repair the collapsed bridges and roads.
Owing to the blockage of Karakoram Highway, all seven districts of Gilgit-Baltistan are faced with severe shortage of food, fuel and LPG gas.
Prices of petrol and diesel have shoot up to Rs200 per liter. As a result, over 80 percent traffic has disappeared from the roads.
The transport fare within the region has also gone up by 200 percent.
In addition, food items, including milk, eggs and meat, are hardly available in the flood-hit region. SAMAA
Sialkot tragedy: Malik vows to punish culprits

SIALKOT: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said that people involved in the merciless murder of two teenaged brothers would not escape their punishment.
Interacting with media persons after visiting the aggrieved parents here on Sunday, he said that the culprits would be hanged at the same place, where two brothers were brutally killed.
“This heinous act has left the entire nation ashamed,” he said, praising the superior judiciary for taking a suo motu notice of the incident.
He said both federal and provincial governments have a consensus to punish the culprits.
Malik urged the media to play a role in bringing the murderers to book. He said 10 accused were taken into custody by the police.
To a question, he said that the policemen, who were seen in the video footage, would also face the consequences.

Peshawar suicide blast 8 killed

Peshawar, Pakistan news :- A suicide blast near Cattle Market in Matni area of Peshawar killed five people and injured several others including union nazim Abdul Malik on Sunday.
According to correspondent blast occurred near Sunday Bazaar and nazim Abdul Malik got critically injured in it. Matni SHO said blast was suicide attack and occurred when attacker blew him up after meeting someone in the bazaar.
SHO Riaz Khan told that eight or nine people were killed in the blast. Injured have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. Police surrounded the area and rescue activities were launched after the blast. Sources told that target of the attack was nazim Abdul Malik.
NWFP Information Minister said blast was suicide one which killed 10 people and injured 15 others. “We will not bow before terrorists and eliminate terrorism no matter how many sacrifices we have to give for it,” he added. He apprehended that terrorism activities could continue in coming days.
