Karan Johar on why Hrithik and not Abhishek for Agneepath remake
It’s official. Karan Johar finally admits it is Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra in the Agneepath remake.
Speaking officially for the first time about the casting of the Agneepath remake, Karan Johar coolly and cleverly passes on the buck to his newbie director Karan Malhotra for Abhishek Bachchan’s non-presence in the remake…a casting digression that jolted everyone who thought Abhishek was a natural and inevitable inheritor of the Agneepath role.
Says Karan Johar, “When my father (the late Yash Johar) produced Agneepath, he left everything to his director Mukul Anand and kept completely away from the project. I’m carrying on the family tradition. The casting for the Agneepath remake was decided by the director Karan Malhotra. He decided on Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. Why Hrithik and not Abhishek? I think Siddharth has his own ideas on how to present the character. I think the protagonist in the new Agneepath would be very different from how he was in the original.”
The script for the new Agneepath is also entirely re-vamped. Priyanka Chopra won’t play a nurse, like Madhvi had done in the original. And the Mithun Chakraborty’s character from the original has been done away with completely.
If there was any tension about the Bachchan’s scion, Abhishek not even been approached for the remake of Agneepath, it was wiped away last week at the haute couture week where it was crystal-clear in public that the Bachchans still treated Karan as part of their family.
Last Wednesday, at Manish Malhotra’s fashion show Abhishek, more baffled than hurt by not even asked to do the Agneepath remake, walked up and warmly hugged Karan. The following evening on Thursday, Karan coaxed the original Agneepath protagonist Big B to walk the ramp with star of the remake Hrithik Roshan,thereby putting an end to all speculation within the film industry about a strain between the Bachchan parivar and Karan over the Agneepath issue.
Says Karan emotionally, “The Bachchans and my family go back a long way. Our association is not on a film-to-film basis. It doesn’t matter how many films we work in or don’t work in. For the record, I will be doing at least ten more films with Abhishek in my lifetime. He’s already done two films with our banner Dharma Productions. He’s doing Dostana 2 next year.”
Sajid Nadiadwala de-boards Salman’s private flight due to health issues
A chartered flight carrying Salman Khan’s friends and family including Arbaaz, Sohail, David Dhawan to Dubai on Thursday for his ‘Being Human’ concert had to be delayed by almost an hour when Sajid Nadiadwala suddenly took ill.
Apparently, there was alarm and panic on-board. A doctor had to be rushed to the flight, on examining him the doctor announced that Sajid was not fit to travel and was advised to de-board.
Salman’s flight had to leave without Sajid.
News of the Housefull producer’s sudden illness spread like wildfire in the industry. After repeated attempts to contact him Sajid finally answered the phone on Friday afternoon.
Sounding pale and weak the producer said, “It was a condition I had been trying to suppress for some time now with antibiotics. Apparently, the antibiotics turned hostile on me, and I didn’t even know it. On Thursday, when I was ready to take off for Dubai with Salman, I suddenly had an acute pain in my stomach. I just couldn’t bear it.”
The doctor got him off the flight and suggested a series of complicated tests.
Says Sajid, “Apparently my white blood-cell count has shot up at an alarming rate. That needs to be checked immediately. Now I’m completely house-bound and bed-ridden for some time.”
Has this suddenly withdrawal from Salman’s entourage miffed the star?
“Not at all!” protest Sajid. “In fact he was the most concerned and persuaded me to stay back.”
Manish Malhotra to make his directorial debut

An avid movie buff and having spent two decades in the Indian Film Industry, Manish Malhotra is all set to gear up for his directorial venture. He reveals, “I am planning to make a commercial, glamorous, glossy, popcorn film which I would go to see it. I have a dance film in mind and I’ve always wanted to do that kind of a film. The producers and the cast is too premature for me to speak about at this given point in time.” He further quotes, “I don’t only love fashion but also films. I have grown up watching Hindi films and the time has come that I show my prowess behind the camera. At the moment, it’s a ssshhh.”
Having known Manish and his celebrity friends list, we won’t be surprised if we do see the wish list including Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, and many more from the filmy fraternity roped in his debut film. And will it break any records for most number of celebrity special appearances? Oh yes, we’re sure!

Walking The Ramp With Saif Was Special: Kareena Kapoor

MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, who strutted down the ramp for bridal collection of his friend Manish Malhotra on the current HDIL India Couture Week here with her boyfriend, Saif Ali Khan, says it was a very special show she. 
“I’ve walked the ramp many times in the past for my friend Manish, but this was different and very special because for the first time I was walking with Saif.’s Always a special feeling to be with him,” said Kareena.
Saif added, “Yes, it was fun. We had fun during rehearsals as well.”
While sashaying down the ramp smiling Kareena watched as the audience Saif managed to keep a poker face.
The first row was occupied by a number of Bollywood celebrities who had to push for a place in the area full of entertainment.
Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Kajol, Imran Khan, Dino Morea, Uday Chopra, Sophie Chaudhary, and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi who came with her daughters, adds glamor quotient.
The collection is called “The Wedding of Doom” and the whole decorated with white curtains that fall from the ceiling like a dream sequence from a Bollywood film.
The background music of Hindi films had Chartbusters and emotional Atayachaar, Twist, Chor Bazzari among others.
The line had an interesting combination of colors like peach, ivory and beige. With minimalist embroidery and a lot of bling, Malhotra’s collection was elegant and sexy at the same time too.
“These days many people in India are having your wedding abroad. Last month I designed for a wedding in Portugal. I want people to know what colors and silhouettes to be used at weddings as” Malhotra said.
The range of all I had a girl can dream – from outside Kurtas Lehenga to shoulder, long jackets for elegant blouse.
