Staff Report
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board is mulling over a plan to initiate legal action against British tabloid The Sun for leveling baseless allegations against Pakistani cricketers in a new report.
The tabloid had claimed the bookies were aware of a certain scoring pattern of the Oval match between Pakistan and England on September 17.
After holding an investigation into the claims, the ICC concluded that the match was ‘no compelling evidence of any wrongdoing’ in the match.
Pakistan had won the Oval contest 22 runs.
Pakistan ODI skipper Shahid Afridi termed the allegations are “rubbish” while PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said the England cricketers had thrown the match, after claiming it was “a conspiracy to defraud Pakistan cricket”.
According to sources, the PCB is in consultation with its British lawyer Elizabeth Robertson

LONDON: Former Essex county cricketer Mervyn Westfield has been charged with fraud over allegations that he deliberately bowled badly in a domestic match last year, British prosecutors said on Thursday.
“I have advised that Mervyn Westfield should be charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud for intentionally playing other than to the best of his ability, contrary to his contractual obligations,” Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Antony Swift said in a statement.

Cricket is facing a crisis over allegations of spot-fixing of incidents in the international game.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) this month suspended Pakistan’s Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and

T20 match against Australia on Friday
Australia vs Pakistan T20 match against Australia Live Streaming on Friday :- Pakistan will enter into the one off T20 match against Australia on Friday under stand-in captain Shoaib Malik after its regular captain Shahid Afridi was banned for two match for his ball-tempering in the last ODI of the five-match series.

This would be the only chance for Pakistan to have some consolation after their humiliation at the hands of the Aussies. It would also be providing Shoaib Malik an opportunity to come among the runs and strike claim to regain captaincy of the team which he lost to Younus Khan last year.
However, it would all depend how the team would fare under him after a bundle of on and off the field controversies with Afridi’s ball biting saga of the late.

It would be a real test for struggling Malik, who has his place in doubt to show some extra effort in the night match at the MCG on Friday. The national side is the T20 champion and would be favourite to win the match while the Australia are yet to come up to terms of this version of the game. However, the Pakistan team has this type of game a regular feature in its domestic cricket.
Apart from this, Malik has won his Sialkot Stallions the National T20 Championship title twice and for the national team the return of Imran Nazir, who is also considered the games specialist would bolster the line up.
With Umer Akmal and his elder Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Asif in the line-up the chances are the team would come up to the expectations.
On the other side, the injury worries to the home side might provide fast bowlers Shaun Tait and Dirk Nannes an opportunity to settle in the team. Who would get the chance of Friday in the Australian side would be seen on the day but Mitchell Johnson and their sensation Ryan Harris make their side a fighting unit that would entertain the Melbourne Cricket Ground attendants a rightful time to entertain.
