Robert Novak passed away today at 78
Robert Novak, a giant in political reporting and punditry who crossed swords with people across the entire political spectrum, has passed away today at 78.
Novak was an unapologetic warrior for his beliefs as a pundit, having spent decades building his credibility as a journalist. Nicknamed “the Prince of Darkness”, a title he proudly used for his memoirs, Novak did not mince words or suffer fools lightly. He became one of the premier conservative pundits in the US, but did not hesitate to criticize the Right — or to do so with brutal honesty — when he felt it was running off the rails. He blasted the McCain campaign for misleading him on the running-mate selection process last summer, for instance. A couple of months before that, he ripped the GOP for feeding at the public trough on ag subsidies while claiming the mantle of fiscal discipline.

Mindy McCready saying she tell the world about her relation with Roger on reality series slated for January, including that her long-term affair with the former Yankee pitcher kick-started a downward spiral when it came to her future relationships with men.
“He was the first person I fell madly in love with,”Mindy McCready told , referring to Clemens. “But having a person promise you the world and then not give it to you, that’s the worst kind of abuse a person can suffer.” McCready, 33, is part of a rogue’s gallery of celebrities who will appear on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” scheduled to air in early 2010. McCready will appear with actress Mackenzie Phillips, former madam Heidi Fleiss, actor Tom Sizemore and former NBA star Dennis Rodman, among others. McCready is treated on the show for co-dependency and said Clemens comes up during her on-show treatment. “Dr. Drew and his team point out that a man like Roger Clemens is responsible for paving the way for what my relationships with men would be like,” McCready said.

Lisa Mayfield Mugshot, Lisa Mayfield, stepmother of suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield has been arrested on charges of assault.
Nascar’s key witness Lisa Mayfield, 48, might not be so reliable after all. She was taken into custody of the Catawba County Police Department, after being arrested at the home of Jeremy and Shana Mayfield. She has been charged with assault, trespassing and public intoxication. Police had responded to a complaint, and was told that somebody intoxicated was pounding on the door.
Jeremy Mayfield and his wife, who were on their way to attend a dirt track race, were informed by people who lived and worked on their property, that they heard bangs on the door. When the Mayfields arrived at their home, Lisa Mayfield was already in handcuffs.
A warrant for trespassing has been issued against her, the workers and people living on Jeremy Mayfield’s property took out assault charges against her. Lisa Mayfield threw racial slurs and punches at them, before police arrived on the scene and arrested her.
In May, 2009, Jeremy Mayfield was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR for substance abuse, after testing positive on a drug test. Mayfield stated that he believes that his prescription of Claritin-D for allergies, and his prescription for the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug Adderall reacted together, and resulted in a positive drug test. His stepmother Lisa Mayfield was the key witness for NASCAR, in her testimony in court she stated that she had seen him use methamphetamine many times since 1998.
Jeremy Mayfield has been fighting these allegations. He stated that his stepmother is not trustworthy, and that he believes she killed his father, who committed suicide in 2007. He also accused her of providing a false testimony in court for money he believes she’d received from NASCAR. Sources say that NASCARS secrecy over the test results are politically motivated, Claritin was a sponsor of NASCAR at the time.
