Talks with US based on Pakistans interests: FM
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that talks with the US were based on Pakistans interests, and vowed to pursue the same agenda.
Talking to media at Lahore Airport, the FM said that there is no solution for the rumours in the air about the likely military operation in North Waziristan.
Qureshi said that Pakistans foreign policy is being made by the government and the foreign ministry, while the provinces are also being taken on board in this regard. He said that in todays session, the cabinet would be told about the recently held Pak-US talks.
Kalabagh Dam has only been discussed since 1953, Pervez Ashraf
Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that consensus on the construction of Kalabagh Dam is only possible if the three provinces review their resolutions passed on the issue, otherwise how could it be constructed.Talking to media at Lahore Airport, the minister said that the dam has only been discussed since 1953. We shall have to consider the construction of other dams. PM Gilani will inaugurate Dia Mir Bhasha Dam in the coming month. Raja Pervez Ashraf added that the vacant seat of chairman NAB was supposed to be filled in accordance with the Supreme Court directions within the stipulated time. Had this seat not been filled within the allotted time, notions would have prevailed about governments sluggishness and negligence. He said that Deedar Shah is an honest man and that there is hardly anyone who is non-partisan. He further opined that rumors about change of government started soon after the formation of government but the government would complete its tenure.
Judiciary and Government wont collide on 25 May: Amin Faheem
There wont be a collision between judiciary and Government on 25 May, Federal Minister for Trade, Makhdoom Amin Fahim said on Sunday 23 May. Faheem said President has immunity under the Constitution.
Talking to media at Lahore Airport, he said the party had decided that some ministers would appear before the Supreme Court (SC), adding their visits abroad had been cancelled. He quoted the words of the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani that there was no conflict between the judiciary and the Parliament.
The Minister said the 37 killings in Karachi was a provincial matter, however, it was incumbent upon the government to handle the issue in accordance with the law.
The coalition with Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) was a political decision and both the parties will keep it up, he added.
Shoaib’s in-law seeks Allah’s help in Sania-Aisha rift
LAHORE: Cricketer Shoaib Malik’s in-law, Mr. Imran Zafar Malik has appealed to nation for seeking Allah’s help for his brother-in-law in his apparent crossfire against Aisha Siddiqui’s family, saying, “People should pray Allah to give Shoaib respect, if he is truthful.”, Geo news reported.
Before his departure to India, Imran Zafar, in his brief conversation with media at Lahore airport, said God will help Shoaib if he is not guilty.
He is also scheduled to hold meetings with Shoaib’s attorney to assist him in judicial proceedings of case besides, finalization of marriage preparations.
