Aafia Case; More Witnesses Were Questioned
WASHINGTON: The hearing in the prevailing week of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case has come to end here in a New York court during which, the prosecutor could only produce witnesses with contradictions in their testimonies against Aafia.
Two more witnesses were questioned on weekend of hearing in the case including an FBI investigation officer and the other was eyewitness in the case.
She, on many occasions during the proceedings of Friday’s hearing, kept voicing concerns over the eligibility and sincerity of counsels defending her in the case.
Also, she asked the judge for allowing her meeting with US president Obama as according to her, she could be helpful in maintenance of peace in Afghanistan.
It is expected that the hearing in the case will remain continued into next week as per schedule as the justice gave this observation of hearing continuation for completion of hearing by next week.

Shahbaz Sharif Meets PM Gilani
LAHORE, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif have vowed to continue conciliatory policy between Pakistan People’s Party and Muslim League (N).
In a meeting here today Prime Minister Gilani said the PPP believes in the policy of reconciliation and vowed to implement the Supreme Court verdict in NRO case with its true spirit.
“People’s Party wants stability of democracy and strengthening of the institutions and opposed to any clash between the state institutions,” Gilani said.
Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said he would have cancel his tour of Turkey to receive the President, if having prior information about the President’s tour of Punjab.
He said the court verdicts should be implemented as the constitution demands without any political considerations. He said his party believes in supremacy of the constitution and the law.

Lahore, Pakistan News: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani agreed to defuse the ongoing strife between PPP and PML-N on Monday.
The two leaders, during a meeting held at the Governor House in Lahore, discussed the steps to do away with the prevailing political disputes.
The President and PM also deliberated upon different issues facing the country. Zardai maintained that the PPP workers were disappointed for not being able to get jobs in Punjab, and urged the PPP provincial ministers to address the grievances of party members.
