KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Saturday said all the politicians are involved in the ongoing corruption spree which has claimed billions of rupees to the national exchequer in four years.
Talking to media at Karachi airport, he said corruption to the tune of Rs.8500 billion took place in four years and taxes were stolen, adding all coalition partners of the government are equal stakeholders in this corruption.
Meantime, former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani should act upon the ruling of Supreme Court (SC). TrendPK

BHALWAL: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) senior vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi said here on Sunday that the people of the country did not give votes to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for this kind of poor performance.
While addressing a public gathering here, Qureshi criticized the PPP government, saying it has failed in controlling inflation, providing security to the common people of the country and arresting Benazir Bhutto’s killers.

Davis case: we don’t need to prepare fake documents, says Gilani
BAHAWALPUR: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday said the government would handle the Raymond Davis case keeping in view the best national interest.
“We have to put our country first. We will do whatever will be in Pakistan’s best interest,” Prime Minister Gilani categorically told media persons in response to questions regarding the US national Raymond Davis who had killed two persons in Lahore.
The prime minister rejected Opposition’s claims that the fake documents had been prepared for Raymond Davis. “We don’t need to prepare fake documents,” he said.
When asked about Pakistan Muslim League-N’s 10-point agenda,Gilani said the committees of Pakistan Peoples Party and PML-N would have a detailed exchange of views on the implementation of agenda items.
He said the committee would take the nation into confidence. He said the government was following the reconciliatory politics and believed that a single party could not take the nation out of crises without the support of all political parties.
About the status of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in PPP, Gilani said, “He Qureshi is in the party, will be in it and will not do anything against the party.”
He said after meeting with PPP Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, Qureshi would “tow the party line”.
Gilani said he himself was also holding the portfolio of foreign minister till the naming of new minister. (APP)
Diplomatic immunity law: notice issued to federal govt
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court issued the notice to the federal government over Diplomatic and Consular Privileges Act 1972, TrendPK.com reported.
A petition has been filed against the law. The CJ LHC Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry refused to summon former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi saying its too early to call him at the moment.
The petitioner Azhar Siddiqui pleaded that no law gives diplomats license to kill. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till 14th March.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has said on Wednesday that US embassy employee Raymond Davis did not enjoy complete immunity.
“US must keep in mind Pakistan’s sacrifices,” said Qureshi, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad after his meeting with US Senator John Kerry.
He said that his meeting with Kerry was on the wishes of US senator.
Criticizing the statements of party leaders, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Qureshi said that his stance on the issue, Raymond Davis, was principled not personal. “I was briefed that Raymond has no complete immunity. I instructed foreign secretary to follow law.”

ECP suspects degrees of 298 MPs
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared the eligibility of 298 members of parliament (MPs) as suspected because they didnt submit their degrees of matriculation and intermediate. Federal Ministers Babar Awan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Opposition Leader Ch. Nisar Ahmed, Ch. Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi are among the members.
In spite of ECP demand, 112 MNAs and 21 Senators didnt submit their degrees. Besides, 112 MPAs of Punjab Assembly, 10 MPAs of Sindh Assembly, 10 MPAs of Balochistan Assembly and 45 MPAs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly also didnt submit their degrees to the ECP. Election Commission has declared degrees of 118 members of parliament as correct.
Qureshi warns against anti-state elements
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday warned a specific section working to dent the countrys sovereignty, adding that it depends on people whether to get exploited or not.
Addressing the Hussainia Peace Conference at Multan, the FM maintained that the people should think above the lingual or ethnic identities in the larger interests of the country.
We are in a state of war, Qureshi asserted. Referring to the huge sacrifices rendered by Imam Hussain (AS), the minister said that Imam united Islam through his actions, character and sayings.

NA passes bill against loud speakers’ misuse
The national assembly has passed a bill for penalty enhancement for the misuse of the loud speaker while PML-N opposed the bill, Dunya News reported on Friday.
the bill has enhanced the penalty of the misuse from 6-moths imprisonment to one-year imprisonment and fine increased from 50,000 rupees to 100,000 rupees. The bill passed calls the misuse of loudspeaker tantamount to spreading sectarianism in the country. On the other hand PML-N opposed the bill and adopted the stance that the penalty is to high and also that associating the misuse with spreading sectarianism is unjust and unfair.
During the questions, answers session the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the session that during the last two years India has freed 157 Pakistani out of whom 57 were fishermen while Pakistan, during the same time period, has freed 562 Indians from its jails out of whom 542 were fishermen. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Imad told the session that India has not been fulfilling the bilateral agreement of diplomatic access to the prisoners while the relations between Pakistan and India cannot be termed normal until the resumption of the composite dialogue between the two countries.
On the other hand the senate session witnessed an uproar by the senators on the issue of allotment of plots to them. Senator Haji Adeel of ANP criticized the decision of allotment of two plots each to the bureaucrats, judges and the journalists. He demanded withdrawal of the decision of the allotment for to the bureaucrats or otherwise demanded a plot each for the provincial legislators. Senator Khalid Soomro raised the issue of 50 billion rupee corruption scandal of Hajj. Responding sarcastically to the stances of the senators, advisor to the Prime Minister Ghazanfar Gill said that he can give his piece of land in Gujrat for the burial of the senators.
Senator Seemi Siddiqui and Khlid Soomro demanded probe of the Hajj corruption scandal worth 50 billion rupees as well as the letter of the Saudi prince against the scandal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Senator Haji Adeel said that no government official has responded on the Saudi princes letter to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The senate session was adjourned till Monday afternoon.
PM Gilani, Army Chief meet President Zardari
ISLAMABAD, News Trends: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Army Chief General Ashfaque Pervez Kayani called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Presidency to discuss the results of Pak-US strategic dialogue.
The meeting also discussed future strategy after the dialogue with United States.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was also present during the meeting.
