ECP suspects degrees of 298 MPs
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared the eligibility of 298 members of parliament (MPs) as suspected because they didnt submit their degrees of matriculation and intermediate. Federal Ministers Babar Awan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Opposition Leader Ch. Nisar Ahmed, Ch. Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi are among the members.
In spite of ECP demand, 112 MNAs and 21 Senators didnt submit their degrees. Besides, 112 MPAs of Punjab Assembly, 10 MPAs of Sindh Assembly, 10 MPAs of Balochistan Assembly and 45 MPAs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly also didnt submit their degrees to the ECP. Election Commission has declared degrees of 118 members of parliament as correct.

National Assembly standing committee for food and agriculture has rejected RGST, trendpk.Com reported on Saturday.
On the other hand FBR has confessed that the imposition of RGST would cause an increase in the inflation rate. Javed Iqbal Warraich presided over the meeting of standing committee for food and agriculture. During the meeting the members of the committee said that the agriculture sector is already under stress and that it should be saved from RGST. Imposition of RGST on agricultural sector would increase the prices of fertilizers, seed, pesticides and agricultural machinery which, in turn, would affect the peasants.
On the other hand standing committee has recommended to lift the ban on export of Gurr from KhyberPakhtunkhwa. Standing committee has constituted another committee to to deal with export of Gurr to Afghanistan from KhyberPkahtunkhwa.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that he was not afraid of unification of Muslim Leagues as most of the members of APML were his relatives. He said that it was oppositions right to criticize.

Federal Cabinet approves TAPI Gas pipeline
The federal cabinet has approved the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
The cabinet also approved the Pak-US strategic dialogue and decided in principle to take the parliament into confidence on the matter. The cabinet approved the TAPI gas pipeline project as well.
The cabinet approved land survey and constituted a committee for constituting a new ministry of Hajj, Umrah and other religious visits. All the members of the cabinet decided to give gold sets to the brides from the flood affected areas. The cabinet was told that the president also gave gold sets to the brides residing in the flood-hit areas of the country.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended membership of 141 parliamentarians for not submitting financial details Monday.
The suspended members included Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Engineer Amir Maqam, Atta-ur-Rehman, Noor Aalam, Sardar Asif Ahmed Ali, Syed Khursheed Ahmed, Kashmala Tariq and others.
ECP has suspended membership of 34 members of National Assembly, 69 of Punjab Assembly, 16 of Sindh Assembly, 10 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and 12 of Balochistan provincial assembly.
Four members of the Senate are also mentioned in the list released by ECP. SAMAA
Committee to probe news of revoking reinstatement notification
The Ministry of Information, on the orders of the Supreme Court, has formed an inquiry committee to check out the factors behind the news about revoking the notification of judges reinstatement, Dunya News reported on Saturday.
Najeebullah Khan, Dr. Abdul Jabbar, Hameed Haroon, Aslam Qazi, Pervez Shaukat and Muhammad Azam are the members of the committee. The committee will present its report on October 18. The committee will check how the said news was spread in the media. It will also recommend suggestions to avoid such incidents in the future. The committee will search out the elements responsible for spreading this news.

According to the rescue sources, some unknown gunmen shot a person dead in Korangi area. Two handcuffed dead bodies were found Saadia Marker near Nazimabad Inquiry office during late hours of night. Earlier 34-year-old Muhammad Saleem died of bullet injuries when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him in Khamosh Colony area of Nazimabad whereas the firing also injured Anar Khan and Kabir. A troller cleaner Bakht Ali was killed by the firing of motorcyclists near Afghan Camp on Super Highway.

Somali gunmen kidnap two aid workers

MOGADISHU: Somali gunmen kidnapped two people working for Save The Children in the Horn of Africa country late on Thursday, the British charity said.
Local residents said the abductors had taken the hostages to an area controlled by al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab rebels.
“We can confirm that two of our members of staff were taken by armed gunmen in a Somali town near the Ethiopian border yesterday,” Save the Children said in a statement.
“At this point, we don’t know any more about their whereabouts or wellbeing,” it said.
Initial reports said one of two was from Zimbabwe, although others said he was British. The British Foreign Office said it was aware of the reports and was urgently investigating.
It was not immediately clear whether al Shabaab was behind the kidnapping.
