PPP suspends Naheed Khans party membership
News Trends: Pakistan Peoples Party on Monday suspended the party membership of Naheed Khan, political secretary to late Benazir Bhutto, over accusing party leadership of nepotism and cronyism.
In an emergency meeting, held in Rawalpindi under the chair of district president Amir Fida Paracha today, Naheeds membership was suspended after being charged with violating party discipline despite warnings. Amir told the mediamen that Naheed has been issued a show cause notice in this regard.
On Sunday, disgruntled activists of the Pakistan Peoples Party led by Naheed Khan, political secretary to the PPPs slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto, has accused the party leadership of promoting cronyism and nepotism in the party and the government at the cost of ideologues and true workers. The charges are part of a resolution adopted at a ceremony organised by the dissident group here on Sunday at the residence of Sardar Hur Bukhari to mark 44th Foundation Day of the party. It is pertinent to mention that Safdar Abbasis membership of CEC has already been suspended.

When contacted, Naheed Khan told Dunya TV that her membership had been signed by Benazir Bhutto and the party may suspend her membership if it did not accept her signs. She reiterated her allegations.
Jehangir opposes CJ’s sole discretion to name judges

ISLAMABAD: Noted human rights activist and President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Asma Jehangir says that the Chief Justice (CJ) should not have the sole authority to recommend names for judges in the Judicial Commission.
Speaking at a seminar here on Tuesday, she said two senior judges involved in the Judicial Commission should also have the authority to recommend names for the appointment of judges.
The SCBA chief said that no relative of the commission’s members should be considered.
“If any member feels that his relative is competent, he should first voluntarily surrender his membership,” she advised.
“Although I am in favor of cases of public litigation, suo motu notices should not be taken on a daily basis.”
She further said that a proper method should be adopted for suo motu notices.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) suspended party membership of Naheed Khan, a close associate of Benazir Bhutto, on Monday.
Naheed Khan said she is only responsible for the spirit of Benazir Bhutto and nothing else. “The party is not working according to the philosophy of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the founder of PPP,” she added.
She further said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani are not serious regarding the investigation of Benazir’s murder.
On the other hand, PPP Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab said Naheed Khan tried to divide the party and her membership has been suspended because she violated party discipline and rules. Trend Pk
ECP reinstates membership of 15 more legislators

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday reinstated membership of 15 more legislators who had submitted their financial details.
According to the ECP, the membership of MNAs including Shehzada Muhiuddin, Rana Nazir Ahmed and Rana Abdul Sattar has been restored while the membership of seven members of Punjab Assembly, two of Sindh Assembly and three legislators of Balochistan Assembly has also been restored.
Earlier, the ECP suspended memberships of 141 law makers who did not submit their financial details on the deadline. The ECP has restored the membership of 104 public representatives who submitted their financial details. SAMAA
Gunmen kill 7; injure 11 in Jafferabad shootout
SOHBATPUR: At least seven persons were shot and dead including two kids whereas11 others sustained injuries when two clans from Hindu community exchanged fire over a trivial dispute in Sohbatpur area in Jafferabad late on Monday night.
The clash occurred over construction of a new wall, which prompted gunmen groups to open an indiscriminate fire on each other, killing seven persons including 2 minor kids and wounding 11 others, sources told media.
Injured and bodies have been shifted to Hospital for medical attainment wherein three among them were said to be critically injured, hospital sources said.
Subsequently, police claimed to have lodged FIR against 3 alleged persons of Hindu community but no arrest has been made so far.
PML-Q’s Amna Jehangir quits from PA
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q)’s MPA Amna Jehangir formally submitted her resignation in person to the Punjab Assembly speaker on Monday shortly after her degree proved to be fake, Geo news reported late Monday.
She went to the speaker’s Chambers with two of her colleagues, Majida Zaidi and Samina Khawar Hayyat, and tendered her resignation.
Whereby she stated in her resignation that due to her domestic engagements, she was unable to continue her membership of the assembly.
Amna Jehangir was elected on a seat reserved for women on the ticket of the PML-Q and was considered close to the Chaudhry family.
It is worth noting that Amna’s resignation paves the way for Humaira Awais Shahid to return to the Punjab Assembly.
The PML-Q had secured 86 seats in the Punjab Assembly and their share in the seats reserved for the women was 14. Humaira’s name is on number 16 in the list, and she would now be declared the returned candidate.

PPP Restores Aitzaz Ahsan’s CEC Membership
Pakistan News: Co-Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has restored Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan’s membership of party’s central executive committee (CEC) on Friday.
After the approval of President and PPP’s Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, party’s secretary general Jahangir Badar has issued notification of reinstatement of CEC membership of Aitzaz Ahsan. Aitzaz Ahsan’s membership was cancelled during the lawyers’ movement.
In the last meeting of the party’s CEC, the members suggested to restore Atizaz Ahsan’s membership. Aitzaz Ahsan participated in CEC meeting last time in Naudero after the killing of Benzari Bhutto. According to sources, President Zardari had offered an important post to Aitzaz Ahsan.

Mastermind of GHQ attack arrested from Bahawalpur
Lahore, Pakistan:- Police has arrested mastermind of GHQ attack, Qari Ishtiaq, from Bahawalpur on Tuesday.
According to police sources, Qari Ishtiaq directed the terrorists on mobile phone during terrorists’ attack on Army General Headquarters in Rawalpindi earlier this month. The police also recovered Kalashnikovs, hand grenades, rocket launcher and large amount of explosives from the culprit. Three more accomplices of Qari Ishtiaq, who belongs to Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban, were arrested from Gujranwala upon his indication.
