Sonakshi Sinha harassed at 26/11 tribute event

It is a question that is being raised to not just the involved party but all of India, as to what occasion will it take for the average Indian man to behave himself in public places. Recently, the lovely actress Gul Panag was ill-treated at the Delhi Marathon by the very people who were participating in it. The actress couldn’t file charges as it is difficult to recognise miscreants who indulge in such obscene acts concealing themselves in numbers. She blamed it on Delhi culture.
Yet again another young actress had to undergo a similar incident. Sonakshi came to attend an event organised by three NGOs in the memory of 26/11 victims at the Gandhi garden near the Mantralaya in South Mumbai. Sonakshi came to the event, sat for an hour and just as she was leaving a large group of people began following her. Among those who were her ardent fans, few were there just to create trouble. Sonakshi sensed something ugly and tried to fasten her stride, but the mob followed relentlessly. Some of them some started saying, “Idhar dekho naa, humse baat karo naa” as they tried coming close and some touched her on her arm and her shoulder. Their behaviour was disgusting and out-of order.
Sonakshi’s bouncers rushed her out of the place and tucked her in the car that sped away. So shaken was the Dabangg girl that she was in tears when she left. It has to be said that such behaviour and that too at an occasion that demands one’s complete respect and harmony, is completely unacceptable.
Taliban pulled from Medal of Honor game
Electronic Arts has given in to protests and pulled the ability to play as Taliban fighters from its upcoming Medal of Honor video game.
The game, which is being released for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Oct. 12, is set in the early stages of the current Afghanistan conflict. It was to allow gamers to fight as Taliban against U.S. and allied troops in its online multiplayer mode, a feature that sparked criticism from some military officials and families of soldiers who have died in Afghanistan.
Critics said allowing people to play as the enemies in a current conflict would be insensitive to the families of soldiers who have died.
The Redwood City, Calif.-based company relented Friday and said it will cosmetically change the feature so that players will instead control generically named fighters.
Because the heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and allied soldiers, we have decided to rename the opposing team in Medal of Honor multiplayer from Taliban to Opposing Force, executive producer Greg Goodrich said in a statement on the game’s website. While this change should not directly affect gamers, as it does not fundamentally alter the gameplay, we are making this change for the men and women serving in the military and for the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice this franchise will never willfully disrespect, intentionally or otherwise, your memory and service.
Gamers were divided on the change. Some criticized the company for setting the game in a current conflict in the first place. I just do not feel right knowing I am buying a game about a current war going on to loin sic the pockets of EA executives with money, said one gamer in a Gamespot forum.
Others were critical of the company for backing down. What a contradiction of what this game means, wrote a gamer. This whole time they were preaching about realism and they can’t even say who the enemies are. Many gamers also accused the media of practising a double standard. Films such as last year’s The Hurt Locker set during the conflict in Iraq can win best-picture awards while video games dealing with similar topics evoke controversy. EA president Frank Gibeau commented on that trend in August. At EA we passionately believe games are an art form, and I dont know why films and books set in Afghanistan dont get flak, yet games do, he told the Develop-Online website. Whether its Red Badge Of Courage or The Hurt Locker, the media of its time can be a platform for the people who wish to tell their stories. Games are becoming that platform. The new Medal of Honor game is a reboot of the long-running series, which was created by film director Steven Spielberg and saw its first release on the original PlayStation in 1999. All of the games in the series have taken place during the Second World War, with the new game representing the first time a new setting has been used. The switch to using Opposing Force brings Medal of Honor closer to another successful war game franchise, Activision’s Call of Duty. The most recent game in that series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 released a year ago used fictional Middle Eastern characters in its multiplayer mode also named OpFor. Japan’s Konami drew similar criticism last year over Six Days in Fallujah, a game it planned on developing in conjunction with Iraq war veterans. The company dropped plans for the game just over a month after announcing it.

Naeemi seminar demands sacking of Rana Sanaullah
LAHORE: The seminar held in commemoration of Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi Shaheed, head of Jamia Naeemia, demanded the sacking of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah for patronizing the banned outfits, Geo News reported Saturday.
The participants of the seminar convened to honor the memory of Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi, martyred in a terror attack, voiced reservations over the fact that assassins of Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi are still at large even after the lapse of an entire year.
Addressing the seminar, State Minister for Information Samsam Bukhari said the issue relating the arrest of Dr Naeemi’s killers pertained to the provincial government; hence, the Punjab government should mull over it.

The Cannes Film Festival juries handed out their awards Sunday. Competition jury president Tim Burton announced the winner of the Palme d’Or: the complex critics’ fave from Thailand, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. The runner-up Grand Prix prize went to Of God and Men, directed by Xavier Beauvois. In a sign that the jury was not unanimous in support of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Biutiful (comme tout le monde), the best actor prize was shared by Biutiful’s Javier Bardem and Elio Germano for La Nostra Vita. Mike Leigh’s well-reviewed Another Year was shut out of the awards, as best actress went to Juliette Binoche for Abbas Kiarostami’s Certified Copy, rather than Lesley Manville. Best director was a surprise”
The copy is an original as well,” she answered immediately, in a perfect confident English. “For example, filming is a copy of life, but I would say it is a recreation of life. You choose what to put into the space. The intensity of the result can be even more than what we call life.”
She continued eloquently — inspired, deviating from the press kit quotes:

“The sincerity of the moment is what matters. Whether or not it is true, it is like when you dream. You cannot say it is not true. The same with your memory. What you remember can seem true. Reality with a big R is always somewhere else. We create worlds. This is where people have different realities. It is a matter of human invention. Consider the empty space before the big bang, before humanity, before the experience of time.”

I remarked that she seemed to be quite intuitively connected with her director (which is not always the case: Catherine Deneuve once told me, responding to how she found Bunuel as a director, that she liked him “because he started shoots on time”). Was Juliette a chameleon, able to go into this Copy universe with Kiarostami, after having made films with Kieslowski on faith and God?
“I don’t see them as such opposites. Kieslowski is full of doubts; that was what I loved about him. He put things in question as well. He loved details. For him, the small showed the big. In Kieslowski’s Blue, the experience of the character is different than in Certified Copy. She doesn’t know what she likes, who she is; she is in an empty moment, trying to put herself back into reality, not knowing how to handle it, put the past back.”

“With this film, I felt completely inside the character: in her inside anxiety of love, being loved, wanting to be seen. During the shoot, while walking on these very uncomfortable cobbles, she is never certain she has been seen. Abbas’ camera is generous. He does not try to edit, to take something out of me. The seeing and sharing between us allowed me to open up. It is rare to have a male director put the camera so generously on a woman. ”
“The challenge of acting in general,” she noted. “Is to be as close as possible to the camera. The camera is a mirror. The fact of being seen means that something inside me has to be seen — the inside landscapes. You can only get into that if you like jumping into the unknown.”

She paused to discuss her friendship with Kiarostami. Apparently, they had met over a decade ago, and had a coup de foudre friendship — and he had been waiting all these years for the right film to write for her. They naturally had “a friend connection” because he loves poetry as she does. And she paints, and Kiarostami paints.

Various stunning new images of the sun have been taken and shown by a NASA satellite that could help the scientists in taking new insight into solar processes. With the help of the recently launched Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) it has become possible to see the images that were never seen before.
With it the images that show extreme close-ups of the surface of the sun and images of high resolution of solar flares could be seen.
Today the 20th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope is celebrated. A new stunning image of the Carina Nebula was released on the 20th anniversary of Hubble by the telescope that was recently repaired. In that image we can see the massive gas pillars of nebula having a region of star forming. The height of the tallest pillar is 3 light years.
New forming stars separate them from the middle and are emitting powerful gas jets. Last May Wide Field Camera 3 was installed in the Hubble thus increasing its capabilities that were absent before the installation. Hubble is named after astronomer Edwin P Hubble and it was launched on April 24, 1990 into the low—Earth orbit. He was born in 1889 and died on 1953. From that time with the help of this telescope scientist have gotten some of the most stunning images of galaxies. Since that date 30,000 celestial objects have been seen by Hubble and around half million pictures have been collected by it in its records.
armenian genocide

The Armenian Genocide also known as the Armenian Holocaust, the Armenian Massacres and, by Armenians, as the Great Crime refers to the deliberate and systematic destruction or genocide of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during and just after World War I
April 24 2010 is the tribute day of the Armenian Genocide victims. The world spread Armenians honor the memory of the not guilty victims who were killed in their own mother country as a result of the genocidal policy of the Turkish authorities. There were an expected two million Armenians people living in the Ottoman Empire on the evening of WWI.
The word genocide assumes maximum importance for the Armenian residents who want Turkey to acknowledge that the massive killing that took place several decades back was a massacre. The president of Armenia, Serzh Sarksyan said that the country is still willing to resume peace process.
An estimated 1.5 million Armenians were killed or died between 1915 and 1923 of starvation from the epidemics that swept through the concentration camps, according to the Armenian National Institute, a nonprofit “dedicated to the study, research and affirmation” of the genocide.
Armenians are trying to create pressure on the US government to use the word genocide to commemorate the anniversary of the massacres. However, it seems unlikely given the fact that The USA is not likely to alienate Turkey which is a member of NATO.
