pants on the ground

Wednesday night was more about Simon Cowell relationship with Paula Abdul than about the finale of American Idol of Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze.
The most delightful moment was when “Pants on the Ground” was done for us. I just love that man General Larry Platt. He belted it out for us, and then, back to Simon Cowell’s tribute. The tribute took up most of American Idol tonight, and made what should have been a 30
minute show, a two hour lesson in boredom.
However, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell had a great time riding down memory lane with us dragging behind. Randy Jackson stood and applauded for Simon Cowell as ridiculous Ryan Seacreast told him to sit down. I’m not kidding.
Paula explained she wasn’t having fun anymore, but I have to admit, the re-runs of her fighting with Simon were funny. Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul are a wonderful team, and after tonight, I have no doubt why “American Idol” is falling pants on the ground

Bret Michaels held an exclusive interview for the first time since being released from the hospital and talked to People Magazine about his incident the morning he experienced a massive brain hemorrhage.
Bret Michaels said that when he was actually having the brain hemorrhage it felt like he ‘was shot in the back of the head’. That’s when Bret’s girlfriend Kristi Gibson stepped in to rush him off to the hospital.
After it felt like someone shot him in the back of the head during his brain hemorrhage, Bret Michaels said that he also heard something pop. And it was then that he started pacing around his living room before asking his girlfriend Kristi Gibson to take him to the hospital emergency room.
“I knew I was slurring my words, and I was like ‘OK, this isn’t a headache. There’s something really bad happening,’” he said.
Finally, Bret Michaels reflected on the entire incident and had this to say:
“I’m a believer it’s a combination of will and good faith,” Michaels said. “Will — and good medical attention — and faith. It just wasn’t my time yet. I really believe that. If I had stayed on the couch for another hour, that probably would’ve done me in. In a weird way, God intervened: The appendicitis forced me to come home for a couple of days.”

Micheals himself has expressed his intention to return to the road this summer in support of his new solo album. Doctors will have their say tomorrow.
Representatives for the reality/rock star have given details for the press to cover the conference and we can expect those treating Bret to disclose the current health update, treatment plan, and prognosis.
During a press conference held on Bret Michaels’ condition today, his doctor said the former Poison front man is “talking and he is talking very well. He is mentally aware of what is going on.” Micheals is still, however, “very sick right now” and will need time to return to full health.
“He is improving and I expect he would continue to gradually improve,” Dr. Joseph Zabramski, chief of cerebrovascular surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute said. ”It takes about an additional seven to 10 days before his blood will completely resolve and he will really begin to feel like he is on the mend and can resumes all of his activities.”

Activist shareholder increases offer for movie studio to $7 a share from $6Billionaire activist shareholder Carl Icahn on Thursday said he raised his hostile offer for Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF-N7.180.294.21%) to $7 (U.S.) a share from $6 a share.
He said he also intends to replace the Lions Gate board with his own slate of nominees. Mr. Icahn said the offering period will expire on May 14.
Lions Gate had no immediate comment. The studio’s shares rose more than 8 per cent to $6.90 in after-hours trade after closing at $6.37 during the regular session.
In a letter to Lions Gate shareholders, Mr. Icahn said he decided to raise his offer price not because he believed $6 was inadequate but because he felt it was necessary to make every effort to protect his current investment in Lions Gate.
“We do not feel comfortable that existing management is the right team to guide Lions Gate through this difficult period,” he said in the letter.

NEW YORK — Throughout the college football season, the glory goes to the quarterbacks, the running backs and receivers.
At the NFL draft, the guys who do the tackling, blocking and defending got their due.
Before two of college football’s cover boys from 2009 – Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen and Stanford running back Toby Gerhart – were drafted Friday in the middle of the second round of the NFL draft, six more linemen (four defensive and two offensive) came off the board.
That followed a first round in which a total of seven players who man the marquee offensive positions were selected in comparison to six offensive linemen, nine defensive linemen and seven defensive backs.
Clausen’s fall from being touted as a high first-rounder to being selected on the second day of the first three-day draft by the Carolina Panthers with pick No. 48 was one of the top storylines.
But his tumble might have as much or more to do with the way NFL teams are drafting these days than with any great flaw in Clausen’s game.
In fact, Clausen, the most ballyhooed recruit to sign with Notre Dame during Charlie Weis’ tumultuous five seasons with the Fighting Irish, just might be the best quarterback on the Panthers’ roster right now.
“I wanted to go as early as I could, but this is a great situation for me and I can’t wait to go to Carolina,” Clausen said.
Last season three quarterbacks were taken in the first round. The year before it was two. In 2007, the last highly touted Notre Dame quarterback, Brady Quinn, slipped to the 22nd pick in the first round and was one of only two quarterbacks taken in that round.
