Peshawar: 5 killed, 20 injured as blast rocks mosque
At least 5 people have been killed while 20 others injured when a bomb blast ripped through a mosque at Pishtakharra, Peshawar, Dunya News reported on Friday.
Several people had been offering the Juma prayers when the explosion occurred. Police said that 1.5kg explosives were used in the bomb.
According to initial reports, the bomb was planted at the mosque’s verandah. Police and rescue teams have reached the place and kicked off the relief activities.
The injured are being shifted to the nearby hospitals.
Increase in number of casualties is feared due to high intensity of blast.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain has confirmed that some three people have been killed while 20 others got severely injured in the explosion.
Mian Iftikhar termed the terrorists act a reaction against the ongoing military offensive in the northern parts of the country, adding that such nasty incidents would continue to occur till the complete flushing out of the terrorists.

PESHAWAR: At least three people were killed and 22 others wounded in a remote-controlled bomb blast at Pashta Khara Mosque in Peshawar on Friday.
The bomb targeted worshipers who were coming out of the mosque after offering Friday prayers.
The injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex, where an emergency was declared.
Following the blast, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
Speaking to SAMAA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain confirmed the blast.
Condemning the bombing, he said that such attacks will continue to take place in Pakistan unless the situation improves in neighboring Afghanistan. SAMAA

LONDON: Former Pakistani president, General (retd.) Pervez Musharraf, has warned the Sharif brothers, Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, to remain in their limits, adding that he will respond in the same manner.
He also said that Nawaz Sharif was sent to Saudi Arabia on the request of Shah Abdullah.
The former president said that he will return Pakistan before the next election.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Monday that Pakistan is standing over a pile of explosives and if effective action is not taken, it will be failure of this government.
Speaking at the floor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly today, Iftikhar said police was the main target of terrorists in Lakki Marwat.
He warned that militants were regrouping in Darra Adamkhel and Khyber Agency.
“We will jointly have to confront militants by setting aside all apprehensions,” he remarked.
Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour expressed the resolve to continue the fight against the terrorists. He said war against terrorists would be logically ended. SAMAA
