Lahore: Police officers attend US Consulates dinner without permission

The higher police officials in Punjab attended the Iftar dinner without seeking permission from Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police.

Talking to News Trends after it aired the news, Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that an inquiry would be launched into the matter.

The police officials who attended American Consulate’s Iftar dinner include DIG Training Arif Nawaz, DIG Deputy Commandant Punjab Constabulary Khadim Hussain Bhatti, SP VVIP Security Lahore, Waqas, SSP Elite Force Major (r) Shehryar, SSP Major (r) Nasrullah and SP Headquarters Lahore, Romail Akram.

According to the sources, seeking permission of the higher authorities is compulsory for the police officials to attend this kind of Iftar dinners but all these officials attended the dinner without informing their senior authorities.

PA calls for IRSA restructuring

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed a resolution, calling for restructuring of Indus River System Authority (IRSA) to ensure fair distribution of water among provinces.

The resolution demands that the fifth member of the IRSA board should be selected from a neutral territory, either from Islamabad or Azad Kashmir.

In another resolution passed by the provincial assembly, the federal government has been asked to end the continuing gas outages for Punjab’s industries.

Speaking to reporters outside the assembly, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the Punjab government has not been consulted about appointment of new governor.

Responding to a question, he said that PML-N has no objection to appointment of Babar Awan or any other person as Governor of Punjab. TrendPK

ISLAMABAD: Punjab’s Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the recent meeting between leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) was aimed at sending a message to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

His remarks came a day after PPP’s Babar Awan and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of PML-Q met in Lahore on Monday.

Speaking to media in the federal capital today (Tuesday), Sanaullah said that the meeting would have no impact on the PML-N-led Punjab government.

“PPP is prepared to go to every extent to hide its corruption,” he alleged.

LAHORE: Punjab’s Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the mid-term election is a constitutional way to get rid of this government, which is eyeing on corruption.

Speaking to the media outside Punjab Assembly today, he said, “Our objections to the appointment of NAB’s new chairman are based on principles; good work of a controversial person too becomes controversial.”

Punjab Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution to build Kalabagh Dam, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
The resolution was moved by Opposition Leader Ch. Zaheeruddin in which it was said that the federal government should start efforts to develop consensus among all provinces over the construction of Kalabagh Dam. Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that a committee, comprising Assembly Members, should be formed to get consensus and the Opposition Leader should lead this committee.

Female lawmakers hold anti-Musharraf protest in Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly’s female lawmakers staged a protest on Tuesday against former president Pervez Musharraf in Lahore, calling him a criminal.

During the protest, they chanted slogans against the former military ruler and torched his pictures.

Several important PML-N leaders witnessed the protest.

The participants of the protest referred to Mr. Musharraf a ‘qaumi mujrim.’
