ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik Thursday said several points were cleared during the past four years and the same will happen in future as well.
Talking to media on arriving at the premises of the Supreme Court (SC) which is currently hearing the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) Implementation case, he said the government appears before the bench in pursuance of the court order.
He said the PM Gilani’s decision to appear before the court should be appreciated, adding the institutions are working while staying in their respective domains.
Referring to the PM Gilani’s appearance before the court in contempt hearing, he said this is not a big deal; hence, it should not be much talked over. TrendPK
Sindh’s weapon licenses will not be cancelled: Sindh Home Department
KARACHI: All weapon licenses issued by the Sindh government will not be cancelled, said the Sindh Home Department today.
Those weapon licenses issued by the federal government will all be cancelled next month (September).
A few weeks ago, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik announced that all weapon licenses across the country will be cancelled soon to tackle the bogus licenses after which new weapon licenses will be issued and registered by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Contrary to Rehman Malik’s announcement of cancelling all weapon licenses across the country, the Sindh government has now announced that it will not cancel its provincial weapon licenses.
Meanwhile, the federal government has announced that a ban has been imposed on Weapons Permit-144 and all federal weapon licenses will be cancelled in September . TrendPK
Raymonds name put on ECL: Rehman

The name of US national Raymond Davis, who killed two Pakistanis in Lahore, has been put on Exit Control List (ECL) in pursuance of the Lahore High Court orders, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Wednesday.
He, however, confirmed that Davis held a diplomatic passport. In the meantime, US Consulate General Ms Carmela Conroy met with Raymond Davis at Lahores Chuung Cetre and gave him chocolates and other things.Earlier, Lahore High Court ordered to record statements of the family of one of the two deceased Faizan besides directives to assign the investigation task into the said case to some senior police officer.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government wrote a letter to foreign ministry against US consulate over its lack of cooperation regarding the probe. The letter also called on the FO to bound the US consulate in this respect.
No Single Party Can Resolve Problems Alone: Malik

Malik said this while talking with media persons in a photo exhibition of the founder chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
He strongly condemned the killing of university teachers in Tehran bomb blast. He further said that his country would fully co-operate Iran to fight against terrorism, if it is required.

Rehman Malik claims no deadlock with MQM on RGST

KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that there is no deadlock with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on the Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) issue.
Last night, Malik and Federal Finance Minister Hafiz Sheikh held a seven hour long meeting with MQM leaders in Sindh Governor House to convince them for the approval of RGST, but failed to get any result as the meeting ended without any progress.
According to sources, a 15-member MQM delegation, besides Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan held a discussion with Interior Minister Rehman Malik and the Finance Minister.
The sources added that MQM not only refused to move from its declared position, but also demanded support for its Land Reforms Bill in parliament, along with a few other demands including a cut in the government’s expenditure.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Thursday that Pakistan has suffered more than any other country in the world by terrorism and over 93% of terrorism incidents took place near the Pak-Afghan border.
The Federal Interior Minister addressed an international seminar in Islamabad today and said while talking to journalists that Pakistan has suffered the most after the 9/11 attacks in New York, “We need to adopt a combined strategy against terrorists.”
Malik added that Taliban, Al Qaeda and other such organizations have made an alliance to achieve their goals by terrorizing people, but the war on terror will continue till the end of terrorism.

Pak requests int’l community to write off loans

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday requested the international community to write off $ 50 billion loans, adding that no one should demand ‘do more’, if those countries can’t help Pakistan against the menace of terrorism.
This was said by the Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday while addressing the Pakistan Development Forum meeting.
He was of the view that Pakistan was fighting war against terrorism for the survival of the whole world. Malik disclosed that 40,000 to 50,000 Afghans come Pakistan daily and, he added, most of them are terrorists.
“These terrorists have modern weapons. The international community could tell us from where these terrorists get such weapons,” he asked.
