North Waziristan: Twin drone strikes claim 18 militants

At least 18 militants are said to have been killed in twin drone attacks in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, trendpk.com reported on Monday.

According to official sources, the first attack by US unmanned aircraft took place near Mir Ali town at about 9:00am in Shair Tala, 15 kms away from Mir Ali.Four missiles were fired at a car suspected to be that of the militants. Resultantly, 6 militants got killed. However, the identity of those killed could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, in a second drone strike 18 miscreants got killed. It is pertinent to mention that this year as many as 115 drone strikes have been recorded in the north-western tribal belt of Pakistan.

According to sources, four missiles hit a militant compound in Dashgah village near Datta Khel town, some 45 kilometres (28 miles) west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district.

“Two drones fired four missiles and destroyed the house. 10 militants were killed in this attack,” a security official said.

Two intelligence officials in Miranshah also confirmed the attack and the death toll.

“All of them were militants attached to the Haqqani group,” one intelligence official said.

The second intelligence official told that initial reports suggested the dead were Uzbek militants from Afghanistan. SAMAA

US drone strikes kill 7 militants in Miranshah

PESHAWAR:Two US drone strikes targeting vehicles killed seven militants on Sunday in Pakistan’s rugged tribal region near the Afghan border, officials said.

Both attacks took place in Asar village of Datta Khel town, some 50km (31 miles) west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district known as a hub for Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants.

“The US drone fired three missiles at the militants’ vehicle, killing four rebels,” a senior security official in the area said of the first strike, adding that the nationalities of those killed were not immediately known.

Another senior security official in the area confirmed the strike and toll.

The second strike, also targeting a vehicle, killed three rebels in the same village.

Missile attack kills 4 in Datta Khel

MIRANSHAH: At least four terrorists have been killed in a spy missile attack in Datta Khel, SAMAA learnt Sunday.

Sources said that a total of four missiles were launched on a house and a vehicle in Pai Khel area of Tehsil Datta Khel where four terrorists had been killed on the spot; the vehicle was destroyed completely.

This was the 19th missile attack in North Waziristan this month killing several terrorists. SAMAA
