Burney to start anti-graft drive after Eid
According to a press statement, rights activist Ansar Burney has said that at present Pakistan is facing a dire and painful period in its history.
“The politicians have joined hands and completely plundered this country to the brink of destruction. They have looted the treasury, bankrupted national institutions, sold off natural resources and even our sovereignty,” said Burney.
“The people have no food or water, no shelter, no electricity, no education, no healthcare, no jobs and no security. Every basic necessity has been stolen from us as a result of rampant and unchecked corruption,” he added.
“Look where we stand today, the very people we elected to protect us, are the people now responsible for dead bodies across the country. Murderers and plunderers now hold most important posts in the country,” added Burney.
“We have unimaginable violence now spreading all over the country between those holding power and those wanting it – all for the sake of a further opportunity to plunder the nation that little bit more.”
“It is now up to the civil society to take steps to rid the country of this evil before it is too late, and the Ansar Burney Trust announces to kick-start a massive anti-corruption movement following Eid as a first step towards saving our country,” read the statement.

GENEVA: The World Health Organisation said on Tuesday that more cases of cholera would be found linked to the sudden epidemic in Haiti but ruled out the need for travel restrictions.
“At the WHO we think more cases will be found. The most important thing is prevention,” said WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib.
The disease that emerged last week in the country with the first reported cases for a century has killed 259 people, although Haitian officials expressed confidence that the outbreak was contained.
Haiti’s health ministry has confirmed 3,342 cases.
The UN Organisation for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said the neighbouring Dominican Republic had mobilised a contingency plan in the border area, “partly closing” four crossing points to those without passports.
“There is no need to close the borders or restrict travel or trade because
Apple overtakes Microsoft as No 1 tech company
Apple Inc overtook Microsoft Corp to become the world’s most valuable technology company on investors’ optimism it can keep adding customers for its iPhone, Macintosh computer and iPad, according to media reports Thursday.
As of Wednesday, Apple’s shares rose 2.8 percent on Nasdaq, pushing its value to $222.12 billion while Microsoft was valued at $219.18 billion. The only American company valued higher is Exxon Mobil, with a market capitalization of $278.64 billion.
Microsoft, with its Windows and Office software franchises, has dominated the computer technology market for almost two decades. The last time Apple had a higher market value than Microsoft was Dec 19, 1989, according to Thomson Reuters Datastream.
It is the single most important turnaround that I have seen in Silicon Valley, said Jim Breyer, a venture capitalist who has invested in some of the most successful technology companies.
Microsoft still leads Apple in sales. In the latest quarter, Microsoft reported $14.5 billion in revenue compared with Apple’s $13.5 billion.

SEATTLE – The Food and Drug Administration says it has approved a drug developed by a Seattle company that is designed to stimulate a patient’s immune system to fight prostate cancer.
The agency says it cleared marketing of Seattle-based Dendreon Corp.’s drug treatment Provenge, which is intended to treat prostate cancer that has spread elsewhere in the body and is not responding to hormone therapy.

Provenge is made by taking immune cells from a patient’s blood and exposing them to a protein found in most prostate cancers. That encourages the cells to attack the cancer.

Today quite a few people from my school took the Euclid contest, again from the University of Waterloo.
This contest is really meant for grade 12 students, and it’s probably the most important of the contests, as it can be used to apply for universities and scholarships.
While most people took the contest last wednesday (April 7), my school took it on April 12.
Surprisingly I haven’t found anybody uploading the full solutions, or even all the questions of the euclid. Having took the contest, I’ll do so now. On to the first question!
