Thai Action Director Seelum Pradit roped in for Ready

Bhushan Kumar’s Ready promises action and entertainment like never before. The makers have roped in renowned Thai Action Director Seelum Pradit AKA Nung who has earned laurels internationally thanks to his work in Mountain Tiger, Treasure Island, Rescue Dawn, The Magnificent Five and Marine 2 to work on the film starring superstar Salman Khan.
Along with Indian action director Mahendra Verma, the Thai Action Team spearheaded by Seelum Pradit are working towards achieving international levels of action sequences.

They also understand the Indian sensibilities and the kind of action that would appeal to our masses since Pradit has also worked on the Thumps Up ads. Salman’s fans are in for a treat since they will witness him in a unique action avatar on par international standards”
Adds producer Bhushan Kumar, “I was always looking for a script which has everything and I found that in Ready. The film has lots of humour, there are mind-blowing action sequences which Salman’s fans will love, there are a lot of dramatic sequences, and we also have good scope for music. In short, it’s a total masala entertainer with proper story and screenplay.”

HUNZA: Land slides have completely destroyed four houses in district Hunza of Gilgit Baltistan, forcing people to shift to safer places.
According to details, a rift ran through the mountain at village Nagar in district Hunza. Geological experts and relief organizations advised the local population to vacate the area, declaring it dangerous.
Experts said if immediate action was not taken, a situation similar to that of Attabad Lake could develop.
On the other hand, a huge ridge suddenly caved in devouring four houses. However, no loss of life reported.

Six Israeli soldiers die in Romania helicopter crash

BUCHAREST: Six Israeli soldiers and one Romanian were killed Monday when a military helicopter crashed in central Romania, local media said, quoting defence sources.
The defence ministry said six Israeli soldiers and one Romanian were on board but did not confirm their deaths.
“One Romanian and two Israeli helicopters are taking part in the search and rescue operation,” defence ministry spokesman Constantin Spanu said.
Several dozen soldiers were also searching the area, he added.
Witnesses quoted by Antena 3 television channel said they had seen three helicopters flying above the mountain region around the city of Brasov.
“Smoke was coming out of one of the helicopters which started losing altitude,” one of the witnesses was quoted as saying.
The helicopter was taking part in a joint mililtary drill, Blue Sky 2010.
On July 18, the defence ministry announced an Israeli CH-53 helicopter participating in this exercice had made a crash landing after “sensing a failure aboard.”
“Once the failure was fixed, the helicopter returned safely to the Boboc airbase,” the ministry said.
Initial media reports had said US military staff were on board the helicopter that crashed Monday.

The season nine finale dispensed with the fluff. With only six songs to fit in one hour, the producers let the final two sing longer versions, and the judges didn’t talk as long. A recap video with Will Young singing filled the final couple of minutes.
More notably, this was the final night for Simon Cowell to critique anything.

Crystal Bowersox forced Simon to end the night saying something nice after her powerful “Up To the Mountain.” While the momentum was shifting to Lee DeWyze as the finale neared, Crystal put up a strong fight. She even thanked Simon before his last critique, which may have been calculated for votes but probably heartfelt.
I am rooting for Crystal, who I have always liked more from the start. However, Dial Idol, currently, has Lee far far ahead of Crystal and since that is only based on calls, I doubt she’ll be able to close the gap with texts.
Bottom line: Like Kris Allen last year, Lee is more mainstream, more broadly appealing. Expect him to take home the crown tomorrow night.
My rankings of the songs, though I don’t think anybody did a cruddy job. 1. Crystal’s “Up To the Mountain” 2. Crystal’s “Me and Bobby McGhee” 3. Lee’s “The Boxer” 4. Crystal’s “Black Velvet” 5. Lee’s “Beautiful Day” 6. Lee’s “Everybody Hurts”
“I’m beside myself,” Crystal said. “I’m entirely grateful for my family and my life and my son. I’m ready for anything.”
Bhansali and UTV are gearing up for ‘Guzaarish’

Note the release date of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s GUZAARISH. It’s 17th November. Does it sound odd? Nothing wrong with it, you might retort. But Bhansali and UTV are likely to break the norms with GUZAARISH, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles.
Recall Bhansali’s last outing SAAWARIYA. It opened in the Diwali week. But GUZAARISH is arriving two weeks after Diwali this year. The reason being, Indian audiences prefer watching light, peppy entertainers during the festive season, while GUZAARISH — although it has light moments aplenty — deals with Euthanasia. Hence, UTV and Bhansali jointly decided to release the film after Diwali.
Now 17th November. Well, this happens to be a Wednesday, not a Friday. The trend worldwide is to release films on a Friday, but since there’s a big holiday in the West, its Indian release is being timed accordingly. As of now it’s confirmed on a Wednesday, but if Bhansali and UTV have a change of mind, GUZAARISH may well arrive on a Friday.
India’s answer to ‘Brokeback Mountain’?

His elder brother Anil Sharma may have made period films like GADAR and VEER, but Kapil Sharma has penned a truly hatke film called DONNO Y… NA JAANE KYON?, which deals with the love affair of a gay couple, portrayed by Kapil himself and Yuvraaj Parashar. Co-starring hi-profile veterans like Zeenat Aman, Helen, Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal and Kabir Bedi, the film is directed by Sanjay Sharma, elder to Kapil, but younger to Anil Sharma.
While DOSTANA wasn’t a ‘gay film’ as such, DONNO Y… NA JAANE KYON? promises to be India’s answer to BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. That’s a tall claim, isn’t it? “We aren’t comparing the two films. All we are saying is that like BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, DONNO Y… NA JAANE KYON? also talks of two men who love each other unconditionally,” Kapil clarifies.
What was elder brother Anil Sharma’s reaction when he heard the plot? “He was surprised, but when he went through the entire screenplay, he felt that it had a strong undercurrent of emotions and boasted of a story that wasn’t told on the Hindi screen before. He encouraged me to go ahead and realize my dream,” Kapil says.
The next thing was, Kapil, co-star Yuvraaj and director-brother Sanjay Sharma started attending gay parties to get the feel. “We learnt a lot by merely observing people. DONNO Y… NA JAANE KYON? doesn’t make fun or mocks at gays. Instead, it’s a serious film, it makes you feel for the lovers, who have a lot of commitments in real life,” Sanjay and Kapil echo.
Is the Indian audience ready for a film that talks of gay relationships? “Of course, it is! Like I said, this is not a frivolous take on homosexual relationships. It’s a film that makes you think. I think it mirrors life and would find flavour with the audience,” Kapil adds. DONNO Y… NA JAANE KYON? is in the final stages of post-production and is slated for release in July/August this year.

Jordan Romero Climbs Mt. Everest: 13-Year-Old Is Youngest Ever To Reach Summit

A 13-year-old American boy has arrived at Mount Everest’s Camp 2, a step closer to completing his goal of conquering the highest peaks on all seven continents.
After a nine-hour climb from Camp 1, Jordan Romero and his support team arrived Thursday night at Camp 2, which is at 24,750 (7,500 meters), while Everest’s summit is at 29,035 feet (8,850 meters), according to Romero’s blog. Climbers stay overnight at three or four camps before the summit, depending on their route and pace.
“Team Jordan is OK. We are trekking!” read the latest update from Romero’s blog Friday morning.

The record for the youngest climber to scale Everest is held by Temba Tsheri of Nepal, who reached the peak at age 16.
Romero, from Big Bear, California, is climbing with his father Paul and three Sherpa guides.
He climbed the highest peaks on six other continents and hopes to reach the top of the world’s tallest mountain in five to seven days, depending on weather conditions. Everest, however, will be his first challenge above 8,000 meters (26,240 feet).
A spokesman for Jordan Romero says the boy’s team called by satellite phone from the summit of the world’s highest peak on Saturday.
The previous record for the youngest climber to scale Everest had been held by Temba Tsheri of Nepal. He reached the peak at age 16.
Romero was climbing Everest with a team that included his father and three Sherpa guides. He left for the peak from the base camp on the Chinese side of the mountain.
Romero has been on a quest to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents
Attabad lake rises to threatening 353-foot level
GILGIT-BALTISTAN: The water level at landslide-triggered lake in Ata Abad area of Hunza, has fast risen to 353-foot level today, Geo News reported Sunday.
The people residing in the Danger Zone are being stressed upon to evacuate to safer places, as the lake has risen to a threatening level of 353-foot level owing to the rapid meltdown of glacier in the last two days.
According to Focus Foundation monitoring the Lake, 18 to 22-foot cusecs of water is falling into the lake; while, water flowing out of the Lake at seven different points is recorded at 80 to 84 cusecs.
The water is fast approaching to the Lake’s mouth, where a spillway has been constructed for water outflow. The water will start pouring out of the spillway within a couple of days and this will be the moment when a massive flood is being feared as a result of huge outpouring of water or breakdown of spillway under severe pressure.
According to the survey, some experts voiced apprehension that the mountain present on each side of the Spillway could throw its debris down at the time of water outpouring and may again cause the closure of Lake’s passage.
Seeing the situation, a total of 18 relief camps have been set up in Gilgit and Hunza; of them, nine are in Hunza Nagar and nine others in Gilgit.
Meantime, the people still living in an area declared as Danger Zone, have been sternly warned to evacuate to the relief camps; otherwise, they would be forced out of their places.
