MQM membership campaign starts tomorrow

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced to start membership campaign throughout the country from tomorrow (Thursday), TrendPK reported on Wednesday.
MQM Leader Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani urged the people of the country to join Altaf Hussain for real change.
During a news conference at Nine Zero, Qaimkhani said that the MQM has decided membership campaign as the party is getting popularity throughout the country. TrendPK
Another case registered against Afaq Ahmad
According to police, in new case Aafaq Ahmed was accused of kidnapping and torturing four MQM workers and FIR was registered against him at Landhi police station by employee of Water Board Khalid Hussain.
This case was registered under terrorism act and anti-terrorism court (ATC) would hear the case, police said.
Earlier on Thursday MQM-H chairman was arrested in a 10 years old kidnapping for ransom case and this move was occurred after hours when MQM rejoined the coalition government on late Wednesday.
MQM to mull rejoining government today

KARACHI: The leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are holding an important meeting today (Wednesday) to mull whether to rejoin the PPP-led government or become an active opposition at the federal level and in Sindh, TrendPK reported.
The MQM has summoned its members of the National Assembly, from Islamabad, to partake in the meeting of its Coordination Committee (CC) in Karachi. Members of the Sindh Assembly, senators and MQM office-bearers would also remain present on the occasion.
According to sources, MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain had sent the green signal to the members CC two days ago to rejoin the government after President Asif Ali Zardari pleaded withdrawal of the resignations of his party’s federal and provincial ministers.
However, Altaf had asked the central committee to hold a meeting to discuss with the party’s parliamentarians and office-bearers before reaching a decision on the issue.
The sources said that the meeting would also consult on the current state of affairs in Punjab where protests against loadshedding had turned violent as well as the law and order situation in the country. TrendPK/AGENCIES
Rangers, police apprehend over 150 suspects in Karachi

KARACHI: Rangers and police conducted raids at offices of political and religious parties and other suspected areas in Karachi on Sunday, arresting more than 150 suspects.
Police say modern weapons were recovered from an office of a political party.
Rangers launched door-to-door search operation in Khada Market, Nayaabad, Daryaabad, Sango Lane and nearby areas.
Rangers’ commandoes also took part in the operation. More than 50 suspects were picked up in raids.
According to rangers sources, weapons were also recovered from the action.
Meanwhile, dozens of people held a protest against the operation in Lee Market and blocked traffic by erecting barricades. TrendPK
London: MQM chief Altaf Hussain discharged from hospital
According to sources, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain was hospitalised for the last one week in London where he was being treated.
After remained under doctor’s observation for a week, doctors discharged him with the advice of complete bed rest.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and other leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party called the MQM London Secretariat and inquired about the health of the Muttahida chief.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Rehman Malik have sent him bouquets in London.
UK denies Altaf Hussains arrest

Talking to the media, British High Commissioner in Islamabad Adam Thomson said that there was no truth in reports regarding the attempt made by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain to move out of UK besides the news of his arrest in London was also unfounded.
He said that investigation into the murder of Dr Imran Farooq was underway, adding that he had no information about the letter written by MQM chief to former British prime minister Tony Blair.
Mirzas statement to trigger violence in Sindh, says MQM
The Coordination Committee meetings of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were held in Karachi and London to discuss the situation arising after the press conference of former provincial senior minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza.
In the joint statement after the meetings Coordination Committee sources said that Zulfiqar Mirza was himself involved in target killings in Karachi.
The Coordination Committee has also asked Pakistan People’s Party to clears its position in this regard.
The MQM condemned Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations and said why kidnapping for ransom and ‘Bhatta Mafia’ activities started soon after his appointment as Sindh Interior Minister.
The MQM also alleged that Mirza’s allegations would add fuel to the fire and trigger violence in Karachi. The Coordination Committee said that Mirza was directly involved in target killing in Karachi.
Dr Imran Farooq murder: MQM denies media reports
The party’s Coordination Committee rejected as baseless all the news circulated against the party in a section of the media. The committee said that such attempts are to defame the MQM which has lost its convener in a fatal attack in London. The committee said the party is consulting legal experts to take defamatory action.
The committee said the Scotland Yard is fully investigating the case, therefore the media should refrain from speculations.
MQM to re-join govt soon: Wasan
Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan has said that he will invite MQM leaders to his village and will serve them with dates and butter.
Reconciliatory efforts between the MQM and the government began on Friday.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad met with President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad and attended an Iftar party hosted by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in Karachi.
Home Minister Wasan said that MQM would soon rejoin the PPP-led ruling coalition.
He said that he would take MQM leaders to his village for a trip. He said that local body systems of Karachi and Hyderabad would be amended if needed. But he explained that there would be no amendments in Commissionerate System and Police Act.
MQM to host Sindh Convention in Bhit Shah
KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is all set to hold Sindh Convention in Bhit Shah near Hyderabad today (Saturday).
Hundreds of MQM activists took out motorcycle rallies in different areas of Hyderabad ahead of the convention.
