Chairman NAB orders for speedy accountability

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has ordered for filing 7 different references under corruption charges against ex-MD PEPCO Tahir Basharat Cheema and ex-Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
The meeting of the executive board of NAB was held in Islamabad which was presided by the newly appointed Chairman NAB Deedar Hussain Shah. Different pending cases of corruption of different departments were discussed during the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that inquiry would be carried out against the ex-MD PEPCO Tahir Basharat Cheema in light of the recently published report of Transparency International whereas an inquiry was also ordered against Kamran Lashari for alleagal allotment of plot to a food company. According to NAB sources, other prominent cases include the case of Abdul Khaliq of Lahore for misappropriating funds worth 20.5 million rupees and the case of Shamshad Gulzar for misappropriation in the funds of Lahore mass transit system. NAB has also said that Anwar Rajwani of ARK garments and Muhammad Ashraf of Noori Corporation have not returned millions of rupee loans of different banks as yet. NAB sources have also said that at least 17 people are involved in corruption scandal of Post Office Employees Cooperative Housing Society.
According to NAB, serious corruption cases against ex-member of KhyberPakhtunkhwa board of revenue Abdul Hamid Khan and Ashfaq Kahlid of PTCL Quetta were also on the agenda of the meeting.
On the other hand inquiries against Ministry of Housing and irregularities in the purchase of Railway engines have also been ordered by the NAB. The Chairman has also ordered the officials of NAB to prepare more cases of corruption and misappropriation of funds by the next executive meeting of the NAB.

Held Kashmir witnesses demos despite curfew

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, people staged forceful anti-India demonstrations and offered prayers on roads in different cities and towns of the territory.

People staged pro-freedom demonstrations and held congregational Zuhar, Asar and Magrib prayers on roads in Safapora, Naid Khai, Islamabad, Pulwama, Kakpora, Pampore, Tral, Shopian, Baramulla and Bandipora areas.

In Shopian, after every prayer people marched through the streets of the town amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Indian troops and police personnel subjected the demonstrators to baton charge and teargas shelling at several places.

Protests were also staged in Nowpora, Khanyar, Rainawari and Shalteng areas of Srinagar against the killing of a youth, Fida Nabi, who was injured in the firing of troops on protesters on August 03 and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening.

On the other hand, massive protests rocked Alachizab area of Kupwara after the body of a youth, Muhammad Ashraf Lone, who had gone missing on Sunday evening, was recovered from Sogam area of Lolab.

Residents of the area told mediamen that Ashraf, a fruit seller by profession, had gone missing after he went to Kupwara town to sell the fruit.

4290fd8beevalley Curfew Like Situation in Kashmir ValleySRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, all major cities and towns have been sealed and nobody is being allowed to venture out to march towards Shopian where two young innocent women were raped and murdered by Indian troops on May 30.

The authorities have imposed undeclared curfew in downtown areas of Srinagar and in Shopian town to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations. People of the downtown areas told media men that they are not being allowed to move out of their houses by Indian troops and police personnel.

Indian troops holding heavy automatic weapons and sticks have been witnessed marching the deserted streets. All exit and entrance points at the district headquarters have been sealed.

On the other hand, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mian Abdul Qayoom, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi and other Hurriyet leaders have been placed under house arrest. The occupation authorities put in jails several Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Saleem Nunnaji, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Farida Behanji and Mushtaq-ul-Islam.

24c75fda2dashmir Curfew imposed in Srinagar, KashmirISLAMABAD: The puppet authorities in occupied Kashmir have imposed undeclared curfew in Srinagar and placed the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyet leaders including Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, Fazl Haq Qureshi and Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai under house arrest.

The Hurriyet leaders were to lead anti-India demonstrations after Juma prayers.
